My family (DH, DS age 5 and DD age 18 mos) and I will be landing at ORL around 5:15 pm on 12/31 and checking into All Star Music. I wasn't planning on purchasing park tickets for the day we arrive since it will so late but wanted something fun to do with the kids since it is New Year's Eve. Any suggestions for where we could sit and watch fireworks or something festive that won't require a park ticket? Thanks!

you could walk around, get ice cream sundaes and people watch (you would be arriving too late for the first show of Cirque du Soleil but could catch the second show if you wanted - I did this last year and it was great - we got out of the show around 11 pm and could watch the Pleasure Island fireworks - no admission ticket required!). Enjoy.

The BoardWalk is a great place to go, too. We stay there on NYE sometimes, and we never go into the parks for that day. You can get a pretty good view of many of Epcot's fireworks; plus you can stroll around and have dinner at one of the great restaurants on the BoardWalk, over at the Yacht and Beach Club, or at the Swan and Dolphin. (I'd get PS's, though.)
