New years eve in the parks

Can anyone tell me a bit about NYE in the parks -hotels- citywalk? Do parks hit capacity? Any recommendations on spending NYE in US?

Been there for NYE twice. Really fun. Very busy. Got reservations at Lombards way ahead of time the last time because the wait for food was out of control the previous trip. Better to think of it as a big party most the day than a trip to a theme park unless you want to wait in ridiculous lines. Towards end of night well after midnight lines eased up eventually getting to walk on for most rides. I never found a reason to leave the park and go to city walk so can't speak to that. Also stayed off property both times but if the water taxis are running at the time I would choose on property were I to do it again because the walk back through city walk at that hour felt really exhausting, and getting a ride took way too long.

I’m interested in advice on this as well. We plan to arrive 12/31 around noon and check out 1/1. We plan to rope drop at IOA on 1/1. Otherwise, no set plans for 12/31. Any advice on staying in the parks vs. Portofino Bay event? If we stay in the parks, do you recommend IOA or USF?
