Where is a good place to go in Disney World (if you are NOT going into the parks) to view the fireworks at midnight on New Years Eve? Don't want to spend the money to get into the parks all day since we are just arriving late in the day. Thought that we could go to a resort and sit by the pool and relex and see the fireworks. Also, are there any other places (family oriented) that we can go to "ring in the new year"? :cheer2:

Sorry, I don't have an answer, but I'm wondering the exact same thing. I'm not sure we want to deal with the nightmares of the crowds I've been reading about.
Maybe Boardwalk??? You could probably see the fireworks from there.

We are having the same problem. We are arriving late in the day on the 31st. We thought about having dinner at Cape May Cafe (the only reservation we could find) and hang out on the boardwalk. I do not know if my children (11 and 7) will enjoy this. We have never been to Disney on New Years Eve. I am too afraid of the crowds at MK.

I think DTD may be doing something special.

Also, you can watch MK firworks from the beaches of the Monorail Resorts. . . .

Surprisingly, the Boardwalk is a great place to view the fireworks. There are two bridges (one connecting the Swan to the Boardwalk, and another connecting the Boardwalk to the side of the Beach Club). If you watch the fireworks from either bridge, you'll have a great view of both Epcot's and MGM's midnight fireworks.

Enjoy!

Our family is planning to have an early dinner at BOMA and then go over to FW for the campfire sing-a-long - does anyone know if that's a crazy plan? Then, if the kiddos are holding up, we'll go over to the GF to watch the fireworks from the boat dock.

Hope we ALL have a great WDW New Year's Eve :cheer2:

That sounds like fun. Do you have anymore info on the campfire at FW? What time, where?

Thanks

IF it's going on that night (I haven't seen anything to say it's not) - the Campfire starts at 7:00 and lasts about 40 minutes, then they show a Disney movie on an outdoor screen if the weather is okay!

EPCOT New Year's Eve fireworks are best-in-the-world. Any point around the lake works. These fireworks are so powerful you think they are going to knock you over. People near us Jan 1 '06 were actually moving back.

Can we park @ Swan or Dolphin to watch those fireworks on the bridge??? Or should we take a bus to BW or BClub. We'll have a rental car & I'd hate to get stuck on busses in the traffic afterwards.

All of the Epcot resorts (YC/BC/BWI/Swan/Dolphin) do not offer parking for Epcot. You must park in the main Epcot parking lot. There is no fee to park if you are staying on property.

We will be at the Dolphin and are planning watching from our Epcot view balcony!! I had also heard that the bridges at the Boardwalk were good vantage spots too!

Are you saying that it's better to see the Epcot fireworks vs. Magic Kingdom?

How long do the Epcot fireworks last???

Also, do they still have Illuminations at 9:00pm and then Fireworks at midnight?

We're planning on having dinner at planet hollywood around 10ish on new years. We've been there on new years before and the fireworks that are let off at pleasure island are SPECTACULAR! I highly reccomend going to the downtown disney area. :)

Have a nice trip =)
