What kind of things does Universal usually have going on on New Years Eve? Does the park stay open late? Any bands play? What about at City Walk?

I go to IOA every year... basically they have horns hats, fireworks, dance zones. It's a lot of fun. I know City Walk has stuff going on too, but I've never looked into that.

Rocketman23, this is probably a stupid question, does Universal ring in the New Year at mid night?

MsDis and MIB999999 and kids will be bringing in the new year at MYTHOS.

park is open till 1 or 2 am and it is a lot of fun, but it is crowded.

there was a DJ at the Dueling Dragons entry point last year for the late teens and early 20's crowd. :smooth:

Does Mythos stay open later? I am hoping to have dinner there. Also, are there any special things that happen for New Years Day, or is it business as usual? Does anyone know if Grinchmas is still up the last couple of days in Dec?

Mythos is open later for New Year's, but I think you need a reservation. Grinchmas is usually open until the end of December. New Year's Eve has fireworks at midnight.

MYTHOS has a new years special that has choices all thru the menu. it can run from 65 to 90 dollars per person. we will have to see what the kids menu looks like as well.

City Walk has a special ticketed party... approx. $100 per person, outstanding!!!

Ok, Mythos, is this a manditory price for the evening? Now what is this City Walk Ticketed event? Where is it, does the price include food drinks, is this something that you could bring kids to? Do you need to get tickets far in advance or the day of and where do you get them? Failing any of these things, do any of the hotels do anything that is family oriented for the evening? Would I be better off getting a sitter for the night for the young ones (alright I know the answer is yes), and does anyone know where to get one? Thanks in advance for taking time to answer still more questions!

I remember reading something about a 24 hour babysitting service in Orlando, but I don't recall the name of the company.

I don't suppose Robert Walker will watch them, much like he does with MsDisney's kids? :)

if memory serves there is a menu with 4 to 6 entree' choices and 2 appetizer and salad choices. it is a 4 course meal. it is really good. MsDis and i will try to go more frequently as new years draws closer since they test the proposed menu items as specials during december:smooth:

MIB999999, How far in advance should I make reservations for Mythos? I will have kids ages 16, 14, 10, 4, and 1. We might also have my daughter's boyfriend (? they met when we were there in April and seems like they really like each other) with us age 19 (he lives there). That is if we think he is ok when we meet him the days before hand. At least she isn't saying she doesn't want to go. I have spoken to him, he seems nice, polite, but that is another whole set of things to work out. Anyway back to New Years. Since you have been what would you suggest for our motley crew?

MYTHOS will not start taking ressies until mid-november at the earliest. my bet is they will start after Thanksgiving or the first week of december.

The food was great and that is why MsDis and I and children will do it this year:smooth:

they have seatings starting at 7pm. we will go at the early seating this year and then hit the park and then return to mythos with our arm bands and watch the fireworks from the patio of MYTHOS. :bounce:
