We will be staying at the DLH, arriving Dec. 29 around 10:15am at LAX and need to leave for the airport Jan. 5 at 4pm. I was lucky to buy a 7-day PH when they were available, but since I can't upgrade to 8 day, there is one day we can't go into the parks.
I was thinking to make that day Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve). Do you think that will be the busiest day of our trip? Is there anything special we will miss if we don't join the crowds? Will it be super busy other places as well that day?
Which day would you choose and any ideas for what to do around the resort? I won't be renting a car.

From everything I've ever been told, NYE is THE most crowded day of the year at DLR. I can't speak from personal experience though. However, I've seen pictures of the crowd waiting in the hub for the midnight fireworks and it scared me into changing my dates.

ETA: again, can only speak to what i've been told/read on here but..they do a countdown and fireworks at midnight, hand out party hats, and have little dance parties.

Yes. No question about it. Absolutely.

Hats and blowers are given out at various locations. There is a stage and a countdown with Mickey and friends in front of the castle.

Along with WAY too many of your newest, closest friends (and by closest I mean :crowded:) on Main Street. Did I mention :crowded:?

I was there last year. It is the busiest day of the whole year, although it was mainly concentrated around DL in years past. DCA was not bad last year, but since its increase in popularity, who knows what this year may bring?

And the Resorts and Downtown Disney will be crowded, best to have plans and reservations for meals.

We were there too ... It was a little nuts to say the least .... I'm glad we went but we will most likely never again for go for NYE
