We don't usually put any Christmas trees up this early but we're away in Paris this weekend as it's DH birthday and I just wanted to get the fake one sorted...

My real tree arrives next Tuesday, so the following weekend we'll be concentrating on getting that one up in the conservatory... :goodvibes

Brenda, IMO Old English Sheepdogs are wonderful and Suzy is an absolute doll - tho I think she seems even more lovely today as Dinah (the deaf Dal) is in my bad books at the mo! I had an OES before called Betty and she was gorgeous but Suzy is really special - she's like a person to me... Next summer I'm hoping to get another pup - not sure about breed yet (tho' I love Great Danes) but I may mix it up and go for a little boy... :dog: :dog: :dog:

what a great place to spend a BD holiday!!! we sure have a lot of same tastes...i love GD's too - altho have never had one...but think they are a marvelous breed!!!

i was so considering a fake tree - & even justified the outrageous cost to DH..(tho he's not quite convinced) & we haven't quite decided one way or the other...but i'm such a Noble Fir gal & they are not grown here...so of course by the time we get them they are already 1-2 wks old....so will have to see what we end up doing - but probably need to make that decision this wkend - if we;re going to order the fake tree.....

In my old house I stored the tree in a huge closet I have & I left it decorated. This house - the basement has mildew - so there is no way I will put it there. I am not about to take of the decos. Therefore, it is on my front (enclosed) porch - decorated - all year long.

I received one of those invites also. Sounds like a pain in the neck.

We always get a real tree, so we won't be putting ours up until around Dec. 18th. But I have fake mini trees, 3-4 feet tall, that go up earlier in each of our bedrooms and in the front alcove. My bedroom tree is a pink Disney princess tree, and the kids each have what we call Charlie Brown trees.

My mom is coming for Christmas, and will be staying in the lower apartment (formerly called my basement), so I'll probably put a small faker down there, too.

Kaz, seeing your tree up has made me realize I'd better get some Christmas shopping started!

Brenda, I got your email about the DCL home party. Thank you!

We are out to cut down our tree this weekend in Half Moon Bay :goodvibes

We haven't done this for many years. We traditionally get a tree from Mt Lassen, where my folks live(d).

We like to get a Noble Fir or Silver Tip.

In Half Moon Bay it doesn't get cold enough for those to grow, so we will get some kind of Douglas Fur I suspect.

We also will plant our tulips (~1500) bulbs this weekend and hang our Xmas lights on the house....

A Real Xmas :goodvibes Kinda feels good. We haven't gone all out since 2004. I'm glad to feel back in the mode this year.

sorry this wish is so late...

I had an ugly busy day and am still not done running around...

bbl

I bought my first Christmas present of the season tonight :woohoo:

We get a real tree for the living room.

John's company sells them, it don't get no easier.

Wow, you guys! My Christmas shopping is pretty much done! My real tree gets delivered next week and I'm absolutely beyond excited about the whole flippin' thing!!!:santa: :santa: :santa: :santa:

Actually we had the most wonderful evening. Dick and I have been watching a Cali Wine Tour prog on BBC (British Broadcasting Co) and tonight they featured Gilroy, Santa Cruz and Bonny Doon Winery!!!! Imagine that - so many of my fave things coming together!!! Tho' it transpires the Gilroy folk make a Garlic wine - say it ain't so laydeez!!!!

Anyway - Happy Birthday Jill!!! Have a good one... :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1:

BTW it's Dick's 45th tomorrow (NOV 21st) - bless the old guy... :cloud9:

Happy Birthday to Dick!!!

Kaz, I have to admit to a nonfatal disease I am cursed with...it's called lastminuteitis. EVERYTHING I do I tend to wait til the last possible moment to get er done. Esp Christmas Shopping. Remember too, I have been saving my Christmas shopping strength for when I get back to Disney!

I picked up a Disney sweater for DS that I've had my eye on. It was marked 40% off today :woohoo: He will be with me in the world so shopping for him has to be done elsewhere...KWIM...

It sooo felt like the holidays tonights as I drove around. It's chilly and foggy and everything is decorated. Turkey day is almost here and I've been thinking about seeing Orlando all dressed up for Christmas~

Thanks for the BD wishes. My car insurance company sent a $175 rebate check (1st car insurance co. that I have ever dealt with that does that) & I would call that a great BD present.

Happy BD to Dick.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JILL!!!!!!!!

Well, I've been driving myself crazy trying to decide where to stay the one night pre-cruise. Ok, it's a year away, but I'm a Type A when it comes to Disney planning. After tons of research about port hotels, possible WDW codes, cost, sentimentality, comfort, ease, etc., I decided to book us into two rooms at Pop. I was going to splurge with a deluxe, but I really want to use that extra money on the cruise, or hopefully for the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package, if my Gary Sinese will do me the delight of being there that night. It was $138.56 a night for Pop, and $613 a night for the CR, X two rooms.

Since there will be 5 of us, it's more budget-friendly to take a limo to the port than the DCL bus.

Now I'm free to move on with my planning, as that part is done!

YES Maam - we do have a garlic wine...have one right here...but mine is a cooking wine...i do believe at the garlic festival you can "sample' a garlic drinking wine...& then after that - head right on over to the ice cream booth & get yourself a sampling of garlic ice cream as well..after all Gilroy is THE garlic capital of the WORLD!!!! :rotfl:

Hey Dick...don't let Kaz call you old - you're nowhere near OLD...by any means...take it from a very YOUNG 50 y/o!!!:lmao:
But HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you & to you as well Jill....i knew for days your bd was today & i let it slip on by!!!

Loved the poem, Brenda! :thumbsup2 My DH is off to a special Thanksgiving boozy client lunch today - it's one of the highlights of his year, apparently...

Thank you all for Dick's birthday wishes! :grouphug: We had a great time - I think. We stayed in but the kids were there, I cooked a roast dinner, we had choc birthday cake, drank Kir Royales and watched England not qualify for the 2008 Euros (international soccer tournament) - what a birthday!!! :rolleyes1
