Rats!!?? In a lunchbox???!!! :scared1:

Karen, NYC rats are big, so Tig really had to squeeze them into those DCL boxes!:rotfl2:

Brenda, I had a hard time with getting to MSP. There just weren't enough directional signs for someone unfamiliar with the area, such as I! Although I could see the airport from the hotel, it was difficult navigating around all the highways to get to the regular streets, but we made it.
The collapsed bridge wasn't an issue at all. In fact, I didn't even see it, and I was looking. Maybe because we were coming from the direction of North Dakota, we missed it? I'm totally unfamiliar with that whole area, that whole part of the country in fact!

We took NWA into LGA, and it was smooth. I prefer JFK, but LGA is closer to the heart of the city, which will definitely be a benefit to you. How are you getting from the airport to your hotel?

where do you find these things...clearly you can not go back to work, our sense of humor would suffer too much.

North Dakota, ya ya. You know that all of Paul's family is from there and lots are still there. ya ya...

Here is the airport named after Wilson's great uncle (Wilson Conrad is named after him)

Here's what happened
Before our 2005 Christmas cruise, our Nan shared with us on our thread that she wanted some info/advice/suggestions/encouragement/personal experience stories about having a waxing done, a type of waxing that begins with a B and is named after a South American country. Some of us had advice for her, and we took it to PMs for privacy, because of it's, uh, delicate nature...
;) ::yes:: :rolleyes1

...Then it's cruise day, and we're riding on the DCL bus to the port. It was me and my sons, Nan and her family, Grim and Dede, and our friends Lynn and Keith from the UK. We were all chatting away, having so much fun, snapping pics and being all excited as we approached the port. Then, there it was in the distance, the Magic! But the view kept being obscured by the trees on the highway. So Nan, very innocently, says, "don't these people in Florida cut their bushes?!" Well OMG, we all just about died laughing, since Nan was already associated with that, in a way;) . We must have carried on about "cutting bushes" a bit too much, because all of a sudden, a woman in the back of the bus calls out in a scolding voice, "there are children here!"

BRILLIANT!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: I can just imagine it - wish I'd been there... :goodvibes

Chad really needs to come over here and link is to his youtube!

He owes us his karaoke dance and now the bus footage...

We've been on the road for an hour and a half now, got a four car caravan going. I'm told stef was leaving around 330 this am and intends to lay on the beach til we get there and get checked in. Her bro is an hour ahead of us.

We take the coastal route 13 thru Del, Md and Virginia and then hop over to 158 which takes is straight onto the island in nc.

My puppy penny has been on my lap since we left and my puppy mika has the backseat all to herself.

Ill be checking in as promised, trying to switch from work mode to vacation mode. I keep thinking about stuff that needs to get done at work. It'll still be there when I get back right? It'll only take me til we get to the house to fully switch gears. Nothing like the sound of the ocean to make you forget about the real world.

Brenda, I had a hard time with getting to MSP.

We took NWA into LGA, and it was smooth. I prefer JFK, but LGA is closer to the heart of the city, which will definitely be a benefit to you. How are you getting from the airport to your hotel?

We figured a taxi would be our best option...didn't really think there would be shuttles and no desire to rent a car....i'm sure NYC is MUCH WORSE than LA driving/traffic etc...

well i'm glad you didn't have to deal with the collapsed bridge....it's 35W which you HAVE to take to get to MSP airport...but i know it's on one side or the other of the airport....so depending on which way you are coming from....but my guess is that Lora won't be afftected either if you didn't even see it....i went to the airport website for any notices of alternative routes - there weren't any so guess she'll be fine.

i was unsure of JFK or LGA...& we decided on LGA only because we got the best NWA flight in there together.....so glad to know it's a good route

OMG - that whole bus trip to the port must have been the perfect start to the trip.....yep wish we had been there too!!! but hey we're only 16 months away from our cruise:rotfl:

altho I think i need Karen's travel habits....you make it to WDW more than anyone i know from the WC....and you're coming from UK!!!

Oh well - i am all set for DL only 2 wks after my NYC trip and DL again a month later...so that should be good till ummmm...Jan maybe....

Okay mateys....gotta get ready to go to my Wt Watchers mtg....ummmm i haven't been there for 2 months....hope they still have my file.....

ºoº

I just learned that if you hold the Alt key and hit 1 6 7 on the numerical key with a lowercase o in the middle you can make the above design.

I'm really just bumping us up.

There are two typs of kids on DCL the little ones & the big ones:thumbsup2 . (I'll never grow up)

Well, I am sitting in my new living room, for the next two weeks anyway. My mil showed up unexpectadly today. So now we have six dogs in the house.

The house is gorgeous, the pool is fabulous, the weather is warm. I couldn't ask for better.

I spent most of my afternoon in the pool and a little time in the hottub. I'm gonna take a jacuzzi tub bath before I go to bed.

Ill check in again tomorrow, love you guys, mean it!

I can't lie - this is a crazy year of WDW excess! TBH I can't see it happening as much in the future - I'm hoping to go to Uni next year to study full-time so will have to fit in with a timetable then...

I'm definitely gonna enjoy it while I can tho'... ;)

Colleen - glad to know you made it there safe & with no problems....i kept thinking about ya yesterday..are they there yet?

Karen - absolutely ENJOY those trips - I SURE WOULD!!! I was thinking you should just move here to the US...but i suppose school & jobs and life in general keeps you from doing that right now:rotfl:

Have to say the game was rather disappointing last night...Barry played & did well but no HR's...the Brewers were boring.....so sorry if there are any Milwaukee fans here...but it was really a boring game except the bottoms of each inning. We left early - top of the 8th, but still didn't get home till 10ish...

well have some work that i brought home to do & the foundation BBQ this afternoon - so best go check in with the "threadkillers" & then get to work....have a great Sunday....and Colleen - ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY!!!!

Oh Brenda, I would love to move to the US! My DH works for an American bank and we often fantasize about him getting transfered to one of the US offices - unfortunately it's unlikely to happen as he's a European equities expert but we still dream... :cloud9:

My youngest DS has expressed an interest in attending an American University so we'll keep an open mind on that and take advantage of whatever opportunities present themselves... :goodvibes

Tig, so glad you're enjoying yourself. I know you work hard at your job, so you deserve this break. The hot tub sounds wonderful! Say hi to Rose for me!

Nan, how did mom's birthday party go?

Rose and stef say hi!

Its beautiful here, we have 5 dogs and 13 people and I'm taking lotsa pictures of course.

I told John and rose about brunch the weekend you're on the east coast Brenda, both may come with me.

Just wanted to check in, lymi!

Want to see Wicked? That's where we're going that night...dinner 1st we think....figured after a nice brunch - having dinner early evening before the show would be best...rather than after - hate to go to bed right after dinner.....NOT that i'll be going to bed at 8:00 like i do here! NO WAY!!!! and i'm definitely NOT getting up at 2:30 either!!!:lmao:
