Our vitals:
Me: Celinda 40 (on 8/24) (looking to turn back the years...anyone found the fountain of youth on board yet?) Secretary, mom, chaffeur, do it all, etc.
DH: John 41 (Masterchief in the Navy hoping to retire next summer been in for 22 yrs.)
DD: Jessica 14 (today) Competitive Cheerleader, honor roll student, babysitter, great all around kid.
We totally loved the Med cruise. For the first time cruising without our other family and friends, we were really relaxed and had a blast. No cell phones for us but I cheated and got internet so I was somewhat connected.
I really am planning on keeping this on the hush from DH. My plan is as follows:
1. Start diet after turning 40, then over the summer start buying the clothes I will want for the trip.
2. Next summer/fall tell DH he will need to take off during the week of the cruise. That I have something special planned for New Year's Eve. (He will think that I have booked the 5-star hotel (in my hometown) that we have had New Year's Eve at before. (BTW- I checked the pricing for a week's stay there + New Year's Eve package (adding in breakfast and dinners) and the cruise was right up there in pricing and actually came out ahead of the hotel.)
3. Fall, start looking for dresses for DD and myself.
4. Reserve limo.
5. Design the card for inside the limo for DH to open about the time we near the port. Then wal lah, we should be at the port and about to set sail.
Of course he will wonder how I paid for it, (that's what OT is for and I plan to work plenty to pay it off plus air and spa treatments)
For Christmas DD knows that there will not be any presents (okay maybe a few) but DH will be a little disappointed that there won't be many presents for him.
Hopefully this will be pulled off pretty well. The only snaffoo I could see happening is if my DH doesn't want to take the time off. If that's the case then DD and myself will go w/o him.
This will be a great way to ring in 2009.
