:welcome: Glad to have you aboard!!!

We only cruised cat 4, so can't answer for you but I'm sure that someone will give you the needed info.

Can't wait for this cruise...but even better we're on the May '08 repo 1st!!!

Some of us cruised together Dec '05 and decided not only that we love DCL but that we like it together so we booked again!

Again, welcome and enjoy!

what is the "Fall Festival - Septemberfes" ? We have a girl scout thing that day, but yours sounds so interesting....

the party is on August 25th.

twice a year Creative Memories supports a "Spring Festival & Fall Festival" which are all day (12-hour) cropping events usually hosted by 1or more consultants. Each guest receives a "goodie bag" & have opportunity to win addl prizes thruout the day. You work on your own albums all day - with a b/fast lunch & dinner provided. I do 5 events like this a year - two each spring & fall (one is this all day one in Prunedale) & the other is the wkend event in Carmel. Then my 5th event is another wkend event up in the Santa Cruz mtns at Camp Hammer - children's Christian camp up near Big Basin....

Hello everybody! I just found this thread and wanted to add us to the list! We cruised for the first time last month and loved it so we booked another one while on board! Unfortunately we could not get the rooms we wanted ( we loved our deck 7 category 10 rooms!). To get cat. 10 we would have to be on deck 2. We weren't sure we would like that so we went with category 11 on deck 7. But now I'm not sure that is the right choice- will there be enough storage (we will have 1 adult and 2 kids in each room)? I looked at the DCL website and there are still a few category 10 rooms on deck 2- I think I might call our TA and see what the price difference would be. Which do you think would be better? We also might consider changing to Dec. '09 when those dates come out- but I hate to think about waiting that long!

Anyway, if we do sail in Dec. '08, it will be me ( Carol) and DH ( David) and the boys will be 16( Tucker),13( William),12 ( Samuel), and 10 ( Nathan).

WELCOME to our group - i've sailed cat 6 & cat 7's....so i wasn't sure what the difference once, but it appears (see below) that your Cat 11 gives you only one all-in-one bathroom - not the split bath like cat 10 & above...assuming you are getting two rooms for the 6 of you...so in a sense you kind of do have two bathrooms....i'm sure the stg space (closets - drawers) etc will be identical to the other rooms based on the DCL website 'cam'....hope you decide to stay with us...check out page one for the names & ages of all of us cruising....lots of boys Tucker's age - my DS included (i think we're listed as bstsuda on page 1 but recently changed to this dis screen name)

brenda:

ah ha! A crop day! I wish I didn't have this gs thing, I would be up for it.

I'll get off my hinnie right now and pm you my email info to get on your list.

I'd love to do a Carmel weekend. I need to get back into scrapping. It really is a me time event. Me and my girlfriends that is. I spent most of the last 2-3 years at my LSS, Picture Passion, which closed in Dec. Very sad. We scrapped at Scrapbook Island on Friday, but I really didn't like it. Because their crops get so big they rent another space to house everyone, so we didn't have the store around us. I need to have interaction to enjoy it. I like to chat and see what others are doing. My CM consulant lives in Almaden (of course not far, but not close) I used to go to another one in Willow Glen, but she had cats and I can't do that again, the last time I swore no more coughing because of someone else animals. (only my dogs and rabbit get to make me sick :lmao: :lmao: )

rambling on tonight. you can see the caffeine in my migraine drugs are working wonders. (or truth be told I'm a blabbermouth)(ha, caught ya too it...tigg, jill, aising, grim !) (dede would never accuse me of that in public)

i sent you the dates for the upcoming events...the Carmel event will sell out in NO time...so as soon as the invite goes out - if you KNOW you want to go (& your friends too) get those ressies in right away. it always sells out before the deadline. We decided on the no. of clients we want at this event - which allows room to crop - have fun - not be crowded & we don't go over that number for that very reason....it is really a fun wkend with classes a huge store as well as being right at the Barnyard & Crossroads. You will LOVE it! The Camp Hammer event is fun too but in a more casual way...we can crop all night & all day...stay in jammies - not wear makeup or even do your hair if you don't want to! i love them both but they are different.....you should try them both - see which one you prefer....i have some gals who love both & go to both...some only go to carmel, some only to CH...so it's all what you like....

YES - that sounds great if you're sure you don't mind driving in - i had no idea how far you really were....

Hey Grim:

How was Dland???? We need to hear some stories to go with those pictures.

Also, looks like we are now in the market for a new camcorder. What are you using for movies of that darling girl these days?

It was just 'OK'. It was really crowded, which we were expecting and can handle, but the 'quality' of the other guests was way below par. Rude people everywhere. We did the Minnie and Friends character breakfast at the Plaza Inn, and there were people not eating breakfast barging into the restaurant to get their pictures taken with the characters (you can see the characters from Main Street). The CM's were actually hand-stamping guests as they paid for their breakfasts (they make you pay before you eat - I guess that's because so many people have left in disgust and not paid), so they'd have an idea of who was supposed to be there. Didn't really matter, cause the CM's weren't kicking anyone out. Everytime a character would come by, a big family sitting near us would all come over and swarm the character. The characters didn't have handlers, and no one was explaining to the lovley people that they're supposed to wait their turn. We waited an hour and a half before Minnie finally made an appearance at our table. It was dang near $100 for some crappy eggs, and a very stressful time. We'll never do another character breakfast at DL again. They really have no idea what they're doing over there. WDW rul3z.

The food was all crappy, and rediculously expensive. I actually sent food back for the first time in my life. I don't mind paying those prices at WDW, cause the food is actually good. I hear the quality has gone down at WDW (with all the dining plans), so I can only hope it's not true. If our Christmas trip, and then May 2008 don't go well, I can see us spending our money elswhere. Italy, Africa and Hawaii come to mind...

Other than that, it was wonderful :teeth:

As for video camera's - I'm using a Sony HDR-HC3. It's an HD camera (1080i) that records to miniDV tape. I think it's already been replaced by a new model. I would make sure whatever camera you buy is HD (at least 1080i), and writes to tapes. Even if you don't have an HD TV, get the HD camera. You'll thank yourself when you do get the HDTV. A lot of the 'wiz-bang' cameras write to DVD's, or hard drives. The DVD's you have to buy to record on are expensive, and with the hard drives, you'll have to cary a laptop around with you when the camera gets full. I don't think either are ready for prime-time just yet, and add expense to an already expensive product. Tapes are cheap, readily available, and reliable.

After a quick search, it looks like the HDR-HC5 is the new version of my camera ( http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...51&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11034000 )

Not sure what competition is out there right now. When I bought mine, Sony was the only game in town. I'm sure there are many others now.

Anywho....

Grim:

The experience is much different with kids than without. Not sure if you guys ever went to the DL meals before. I was also much more impressed with WDW food over DL. It's a wonder that so many people didn't ever learn basic MANNERS, huh?

thanks for the scoop on the video I copied and emailed to Paul as he is yet to visit us here for a while now.

Lots of work for me today...gotta run,

Nan

I got one logo to load...the new revision of the old one didn't copy right...I'll post that one tomorrow~

for now, here is the "lighter" version I came up with~

I love it, Tigg!!!! :thumbsup2 So very cute...

(i think we're listed as bstsuda on page 1 but recently changed to this dis screen name)

Brenda, I fixed your dis name on the page 1 list!

Hi Carol and family! Jump on in and join the fun!

Grim, you crack me up...crappy food, rude peeps! But judging from Piper in the photos, it was a magical trip for your family.:thumbsup2

Nan baby, feeling better? At least caffeine only makes you loopy! It makes me climb the walls, seriously, a padded cell is where I'd have to be if I have too much caffeine! How's mom doing?

Speaking of moms, Happy Birthday Jill!

I'll have a

in your honor.

Tiggie, I don't mean to be a pain, but help me out. Is there an official logo, or do we just choose one? Is one the t-shirt logo, and the other the siggie logo? I'm sure Nan is wondering the same thing!:rotfl:

I like them both...so put them both in my siggie...now i haven't checked to see if it violates any 'size' rules...so don't know how long i can have them both.....

Aisling - thanks for updating the signon!!!

Jill - HAPPY HAPPY Birthday to you!!!! :woohoo: Hope you had another terrific week in the World!

Sorry guys, that birthday wish was for Nan's mom. My moms birthday is in November...

I made two logos cause of comments from folks who wanted to do light colored shirts. Neither is official... I redid the original one to include disembarking dates and I used the same border as the new one only in shades of grey.

Use whichever you like, shirts will eventually be available in both logos.

Grim, I am sorry to see your stay at dl wasn't as magical as it seemed. I rather enjoyed pipers pics, I can see how she enjoyed the sites...its amazing how much she seemed to enjoy the characters, she wasn't scared at all was she?

Hi everyone:goodvibes

Well, I'm back :sad1: 11 days out of work. Went back for 2 days now I need to rest. Rather than really unpack I put the clothes in the hamper.

Thanks for the un-birthday greetings:lmao:

(We can pass the real birthday greeting on to Nan's Mom:dance3: )

I had a great time. Tommorrow I will catch up on the postings & I will pass a small review of the trip then :surfweb: .
