Jade, I absolutely admire your attitude. It seems like you've been through some hardships, but you never give up your dreams of a better life for you and yours. I think you're a great example for RT, especially that you're trying to get your GED. And planning trips and DVC...you've found something that makes you happy and you're finding ways to achieve your Disney trips. I really can't wait to meet you, and since you're over 21, I'll buy us a couple of rum daquiris to celebrate. How does that grab you? (That's what my best friend Fr. Casey always says.)
For those who don't know, Fr. Casey is a Catholic priest and we've been best buddies for over 13 years. He suffers with severe diabetes and Parkinson's Disease. The diabetes is Type 1, which is Juvenile Diabetes, and is an autoimmune disease. When he was 29, his immune systen went out of wack for some unknown reason and destroyed his pancrease, and so he has to inject insulin 3 to 4 times a day. It also caused him to lose all his hair, head and body, which was very hard on him as it was happening. Even well-meaning people would joke about his hair loss, and it was hurtful to him. Casey is doing well, but I worry about him a lot. And he worries about me worrying about him, so for his sake I try not to show it. He has his bad days, extreme tiredness, trouble keeping his balance when walking, and that unpredictable blood sugar highs and lows.
This is us together, although it isn't one of our best. We both look a bit spooky in this!
This one was when he met Pope John Paul II, which was a very happy day for Casey.
Anyway, Miss Jade, I hope you like rum daquiris!
