Oooh, me likey! :thumbsup2 Now if I could only lose the xxxlbs necessary to wear a dress like that! Gold?!!! Not a colour I've ever imagined myself in but maybe it'd be OK - I'm a brunette so it could work... ;)
Did you ever watch "Welcome Back Kotter"?
Well, your references got me all intrigued - Kotter never made it to the UK - so Wikipedia provided me with some background... John Travolta as Vinnie Barbarino, eh? Up your nose with a rubber hose!!!! :thumbsup2

Gold is all well and good; however, it truly accentuates the positive. And I am positive I can't use any more accentuation than I already have.

It's a shame if you never saw Kotter; I believe you would have enjoyed his humour.

Gold is a very New Year's Eve color!:thumbsup2

I also say I don't think I'm going to look good in gold. I'm going to lean to black with gold accents (k?)

perhaps the boys can wear gold cummberbunds and bowties?
Sounds good to me.:)

I hear ya, sister!:rotfl:

If I remember correctly, when we were debarking the ship after the Christmas cruise, weren't the balloons they were blowing up for NYE gold?

Gold, people!:p

Karen, how was your night out?

I never really watched Welcome Back Kotter when it was originally on, but I do remember Horshack! And up your nose with a rubber hose...I see our cool sayings even reached across the pond to Karen!

Speaking of cool sayings:

Gold is all well and good; however, it truly accentuates the positive. And I am positive I can't use any more accentuation than I already have.

:rotfl2: Ok, I concede to Jill!

Ok cruisers, just for fun, what your best color (on you)?

I always feel pretty wearing white or blue.

The balloons were black and gold.

If I have a tan ill look good in gold

Blue is supposed to be a color men like to see their lady in

I like red, blue & black

I'm on my blackberry and headed over to the dl thread to see what nans talking about

Mmm that's a very good question and one I'm finding quite hard to answer - maybe I need a Colour Me Beautiful makeover... :rotfl:

I tend to wear a lot of pink and lilac and purple tones (not sure why) BUT I feel good in turquoise!
...Karen, how was your night out?

Lovely, thanks! :thumbsup2 Good food and good company! ;)

:thumbsup2 Your right...i do love the style.

Tigg- I think your right :
If I have a tan ill look good in gold

My philosophy is that no matter what color the dress is a tan always makes it look better. I will be fake and bakin before this cruise for 2 reasons:

a. so i don't burn on the islands and suffer like i did last time
b. so the tan brings out the best in what i wear. :rotfl:

I tend to wear a lot of pink and lilac and purple tones (not sure why) BUT I feel good in turquoise!

These colors also look great with a tan. Have you tried the make-up by MAC? I love it! If you love pink and lilac then they have the perfect colors to help bring out your best features

Good morning BeLLaNoTTe, and all my cruise friends,

Chad's working, Mel's at the tennis courts, and Jesse's still sleeping. I have a big pile of clean laundry to iron, fold, and put away, piled up on my bed, so that's what I'll be doing for the next hour or so.

Tiggie, I wanted to ask you...have you ever heard of a RIPSTIK? It's a kind of skateboard with only 2 wheels instead of 4, and the deck part is actually two movable pieces with a rod in the center? I got this for Jesse for his birthday yesterday, and I didn't realize till after I bought it that it only has 2 wheels! I'd love to know if you know anyone who rides one of these things, because it looks really hard.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend, everybody.:goodvibes

Aisling,

There are lots of different version of skateboards out there...we don't do Ripsticks tho. Sorry. People have gotten quite creative since the days of plywood and roller skate wheels.

Bella,

I noticed in your pics with Chad that you already have a beautiful tan. Do you fake bake or is that natural? When I was a kid I'd be tan most of the year, I'm sure that has everything to do with the fact that I was outside just about every day of the year then. Now that I have to work for a living and can only get out about 4 weeks total I am quite pasty...I've thought about fake baking it but realize that sunshine is still free ;)

Karen, Mom, Grim, Nan, Debbie and all you other cruisers out there...

:wave2:

Good Monday All,

Yet again, the weekend went to fast and I didn't have time to post pictures. I'll try to get tired DH to help me tonight before Dances With The Stars and The Bachelor.

I always seem to get great compliments when I wear Turquoise. I love the color and it bring out my green eyes. I'm not so sure about wearing gold but I have started my diet again and if I can get down to 140 before the cruise, I'll be happy to wear gold. If I can get down to 140, I'll buy something in gold that my DH won't let me wear in public!!!

Bella, I tanned for 6 weeks before our cruise in February and I looked healthy for a change. I loved it but it is fadding fast. I tanned in order not to burn and to look good in my wedding dress.

I'm not so sure about wearing gold

Hi Debbie

if you all think gold isn't a good idea, I'm all for choosing another color! I know we all don't have to match, but I'm just thinking of what a cool group photo that would be.:thumbsup2 But then again, we don't want to look like a bunch of bride's maids!

There's a thread on the cruise forum about parents allowing their almost 20 year old to drink on the cruise. Well, I had some strong opinions about it (I didn't think it was a big deal), and one of my comments was that I didn't let my 20 year old son drink when we cruised, even though we had a beer (yuk) together on one of the islands. But now I remember that yes, I did allow him to be served wine at Palo, and I did buy him a beer while on board. I was going to go back and admit it, but I didn't want to dig my own grave, so I didn't. Tig and Nan, did you think I was wrong to let Chad be served wine on the cruise, and buying him the beer? It was only one, I swear! :rotfl2:

We could try shades of Blue~

My philosophy on the drinking? Don't ask, don't tell ;)

If that's the worst thing you've ever done for your kid I think you're all right!

The wine was like giving him champagne to do a new year's toast. That was a port brought special all the way from California just for us. The waiter didn't ask and I wasn't going to tell.

How many kids did you see, growing up in New York, that were given wine with dinner weekly or even nightly?

I'm a bad person to ask on this. I have an internal conflict. I see no reason that a child (whatever the age) should not have what a parent thinks ok. (yes, our children have had sips before and will in the future) but, it's hard to offer it to them when it's illegal. I don't want the server (in this case DCL) to get in trouble. Is there a drinking limit on the ship that was different on the island? No help huh? okay it's perfectly fine with me that Chad had a drink. is that better?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: in fact I'll buy him one next time (ha ha I know he is of age now):rotfl2:

I'm not averse to gold if I can find the right frock. Otherwise I think it would be cool to have gold as an accent colour - most colours look good with it (red, black, blue etc) and it'd be fab to have something grand for NYE. Or what about metallics in general - silver's really hot right now and I've seen some gorgeous pewter coloured dresses..? :)

I've just been reading that thread! Wow!!! Some people really go for it, don't they!? Here in the UK the legal drinking age is 18 so if the OP was English (which I kind of assumed they were given their user name) it wasn't that dumb a question and the OP wasn't the spawn of the devil for asking it in the first place! :sad2:

However, that doesn't explain your actions, Aisling! :scared1: Plying your poor innocent youngster with booze - shame on you! :lmao:

Sssh! Don't tell anyone, but I ordered a beer in Ruby Tuesday's which I didn't like so swapped with my DS (then 20) for his Cherry Coke...

Thanks Robin (ohioworkingmom) for your crew's info. I added it all to the list. And since you were brave enough to add your age, what the heck, I just added mine too! Mel and I will both be 46 when we cruise.:scared1:

Now that I've compiled the list...

Your'e ok with updating it now right???

I am officially handing those reigns to you my friend~

If we can't brag about how old we are and still enjoying Disney on this thread(board) we're in realllllll trouble.....

I'm 43, so is Paul and we'll be 44 at the time of the cruise...oops Paul will be 45 and I'll be just a few months behind him but still 44.

Nan

p.s. I'm in for the matching color idea on gowns...and I'll even submit to gold (what do I care) whatever color we'd pick I'd be frantic trying to find it and wait until the last minute....unless....we go back to that blue idea.....

remember this beauty?

she's still hanging in my closet ready to be worn....(you knew I'd never get around to taking it back, didn't ya?)

Ok Ok - I'll tell - I am 61 , I love Disney, rollerskating, motorcycles. Today I went to range & played with guns (not that I like them) It's a necessary evil. We must qualify on the handgun, rifle & shotgun in order to continue working.

I like that dress & especially the color.

Drinking - If you don't let them they might be tempted to indulge on the sneak tip. A wee one in your company is not going to hurt.

That's a right purty dress ya got there Nan~

I'm thinking blue might work...what's the consensus Ladies?

Gold is nice but blue can be more flattering~

Jill, I've been meaning to ask you, how's the rollerskating? I think I read you have an event in Orlando this summer?

Tig, thanks for the list, pal  I have it under control now. But don't get too far away! You must be so excited, with your Disneyland trip coming up. Do you have everything done?

If I can get down to 140, I'll buy something in gold that my DH won't let me wear in public!!!
Debbie, you naughty girl!;)
Are you doing any particular diet plan?

For dresses, blue is fine by me!
