Due to some conflicts with our DD's school, we have had to move our trip from the middle of October to 12/29-1/6/07. While I am excited about seeing the Christmas decorations again (we went last year the week before Christmas), I have heard horror stories about the crowds on NYE and New Year's. Can anyone give me tips on the parks and what to expect, what to avoid, and once we get past 1/1/07 will the crowds start thinning out pretty quickly.

I'm going at the same time, from Dec 31/06 - Jan 15/07, I know that the parks will be full to capacity on the 31st, and my plane gets in around 10:30am so no time to try to get into the parks before noon, so I'm just chilling by the pool at CS on the 31st and have adr for Rainforest Cafe that night... will be in Magic Kingdom early in the morning and when crowds starts coming in, (going there early in the morning, hoping that the ones that stayed out very late to celebrate will still be sleeping ha! ha!) I will leave and maybe shop at DD... we'll see, but I'm taking it easy on the 1st... but I've read that some schools that were suppose to start on the 9th are starting on the 2nd, so maybe that will clear out some guests by the secon day. :confused3 Maybe someone else can help.

We were there this year from the first to the 8th. The crowds were pretty bad through January 4th, then died down considerably by the weekend. Most schools in the southeast have Christmas break til the 8th or 9th, which accounts for the heavy January first week crowds.
