New Years at WDW?

Hey everybody I've been so obsessed with my upcoming DL trip I haven't even thought about WDW lately. I was thinking of pooling my days owed and days off over Christmas into a trip to WDW for New Year's!!! I have always wanted to visit and be in MK for the fireworks. Good idea or am I crazy? I've been during the halloween season, Christmas season off season, spring and summer. So this is kinda the last one on the list for me. Should I try and do it????

It's alot of fun and the fireworks are amazing. Downside is that parks are normally packed (and often parks are at capacity and don't let anyone else in). If you go early, get fast passes, and prepare for crowds it will be a blast (and if at Epcot get some champagne in France).

If you are going to do that, I suggest MK on the 30th (they do the NYE fireworks 2 nights) and Epcot on the 31st. Epcot is AMAZING for NYE!

Really? Epcot is better?? hmm maybe that'll be the plan then as long as I can convince my boss to let me do this that is.

Glad to hear this advice.. we are planning MK on the 30th, Epcot on the 31st. Meeting some other Disney-obsessed friends for our first crazy NYE trip!

We were supposed to arrive on Jan. 1 but then I realized that we can fly in on Dec. 31 since I have Jan. 1 off. So we decided we want to try to make it for fireworks. Y'all just helped me decide which park to go to.

LOL most of my friends are boring str8 ppl. so sure!!!!


And as a side note is it bad that I am more excited about this trip than my upcoming DL one is OCT?? LOL I am going to say it's because I have never been to DL before so I don't know what I am missing. Kinda like how i wish I had never gone on the DCL!!!

Not sad at all. You are so excited about it because it is something familiar so you know what to be excited about. How long is your trip to WDW? Where are you staying?

We are going to be there from Dec. 31 - Jan. 9. We are staying at the Swan. My sisters and their 2 sons are coming in on the 1st. My dad and step-mom are coming in on the 2nd.

This is my first family vacation so I'm really excited about it. It's the first time I've been with my nephews so that's going to be really fun. When my sister adopted the boys they took them down for a little visit to celebrate but they didn't get to do as much as they would with Aunt Chell. Everyone in the family knows that I'm the Disney nut in the family. Earlier this year my other sister (okay, really my sister's partner, but she has been in the family so long she's simply my sister to me) was able to also adopt the boys. So see it really is a full FAMILY vacation!

Yeah that's what I keep thinking, it's because I know what is going on etc. so that's why I am so excited. I am staying at ASMovies this time, its killing me I am not staying at Pop Century. goin Dec 30- Jan 6, booked my return flight home last night since it was so cheap. Now just have to do the flight down and everything will be set!!! Well I'll still have to buy tix lol

I second the idea of going to the MK fireworks on 12/30 and Epcot on 12/31. I happen to like the MK fireworks better (they are 360-degrees around you!) but the MK is far too packed on 12/31 and I enjoy them better the day before.

Make sure you make dinner reservations in Epcot for NYE! You'll be glad you did .

I was thinking about doing a dinner ressie but most of the time I just don't eat when I go solo well except for my earl fix lol.

I know this trip is going to be a lot less productive in some ways, although going solo will make things alot quicker in some ways. So my list of must do's this trip is just a few things:

1. I must eat at Earl of Sandwich as many times as I can get there I miss this place sooooo much when I am at home

2. I MUST meet Tiana, I really don't care how long I have to wait I AM meeting her.

3. Philharmagic, HM, EE, Soarin' ToT, Fantasmic other than those anything else is a bonus!!!

4. Last but not least somehow stick to my decicion of staying at ASMovies, because it is KILLING mr to not stay at Pop.

One of the best parts about NYE in EPCOT (and YES!!!! That is the BEST park for NYE) is that you can celebrate ringing in the new year at the UK (and Germany, too - we had dinner there one year and it was wicked fun ringing in the new year on German time) on UK time.

Then, of course you can ring it in again on US time! LOL.

EPCOT is just amazing at NYE. Crowded doesn't begin to tell it though. One year (years ago, one of the times when they closed the gates as the park had reached capacity) my wife and I had a young relative with us (one of "our boys") and we had to lock hands to keep us together. It was shoulder to shoulder!

It was the year we had dinner in Germany and discovered how much fun it was to be in a country when "their" time rang in the New Year.

Now, almost every NYE we tell everyone we are going to spend NYE with 70,000 of our closest friends. LOL.

The rare times we've not done NYE at EPCOT, we've always ended up wishing we did.
