I am going with my soon to be hubby to WDW for our honeymoon. We are going to be there Dec. 26- Jan. 2. With this in mind we were planning on going to the Atlantic Dance Hall for New Years. What can we expect? Attire? Or maybe something else more exciting for our New Years?? Any suggestions are gratefully appreciated! This will only be our second trip to WDW and our first as DVC members.

We're also spending our honeymoon at Disney over New Years and will be interested in any responses. What is the Atlantic Dance Hall? Did you already get tickets, and if so how? Would you rather do this than be at a park? Thanks and congratulations!

Boy no answer yet?? Well I'll be there two with the family for Christmas thru New Years. I expect it to be crowed by trying to figure out where we should be on NYE

My best advice for New Years at WDW (and I know nothing about the Atlantic Dance Hall, except that it is on the Boardwalk) is that if you want to watch fireworks at either Magic Kingdom or Epcot - go the night before! Same fireworks in test mode and much less crowded.:thumbsup2

You can get trampled at either place on the actual New Years Eve - most crowded night of the year.:confused3

I went last NYE to Epcot, and I must say,
STAY AWAY...............FAR FAR AWAY!

it was so crowded, you couldn't do anything. Couldn't shop, ride rides, anything. I will never go to a park on NYE again. Go see the fireworks the night before. Go to a movie at DTD. I can't say enough how NOT fun it was.

LOL! As for the rest of the week, it was crowded, but I expected it to be. It was a fun vacation, except for NYE.

We go to WDW for NYE every year. Which resort will you be staying at?

We are staying at BLT and so thrilled to see the new accommedations!

As to the Atlantic Dance Hall I guess from what I have read they sell tickets on the 26th at the ESPN Club. It is supposed to be for adults only and they have a champagne toast and such at midnight. We have heard of the NYE madness and were trying to find an adult alternative to death by mob crowd at the MK.

Ah! Then you will want to see the MK fireworks. They show them at midnight on 12/30 if you already have plans for 12/31. Honestly, I would see if you can get a spot up in the new lounge. That would really rock!

I hope to join you at BLT ... I'm on the waitlist for a MK view studio :). Otherwise, I'll be over at BWV in my boardwalk view studio.

Since you're still looking for help, what resort will you be at?

You have a few options for NYE:
Magic Kingdom
360-degree fireworks on 12/30 and 12/31. These are AWESOME! If you stand in front of the castle, you will see the same fireworks in front of you over the castle and behind you over the train station. We usually see them on the 30th. I assume that watching them from one of the monorail hotels would be pretty cool too. The MK will be the busiest of all the park on NYE and WILL close by about 10:00 am.

Epcot
Each country celebrates as their NYE passes. Two fireworks shows, one at 9:30 and one at midnight. The Midnight one is extended and has a countdown. Not as crowded as the MK but still packed. The park may still close in the afternoon. The midnight fireworks are also shown on 12/30.

DHS
Not as crowded as the other two parks. Midnight fireworks over the hat. This is one of the 2-3 times per year that DHS has fireworks so it's special. Be sure to stand in front of the hat. We were to the side in front of Hollywood and Vine and we could see the hat clearly, but our view of the fireworks was obstructed by buildings to the left.

Your Resort
Many resorts have NYE celebrations right at the resort. For instance, I know that Boardwalk has something as does the Y&BC and Saratoga Springs. You may not be able to see the fireworks but you can still enjoy the celebration and count down.

STAY AWAY...............FAR FAR AWAY!

2nd

I have gone a couple times on NYE. Why I didn't learn the first time...I have not idea. We even went on NYE 1999, wow. If it was me I would stay away from the park unless you go very early and expect huge crowds. Last time we went MGM was closed by 10 am. FUN FUN FUN.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm not sure what we will do yet. Couple of days we can book the ADR's which means I have to get this sorted out to understand were to have dinner on NYE. Either way we expect big crowds and have to say tempting to just walk around the boardwalk or something.
