We're in between WDW trips at the moment and DH has finally caught the Disney bug and wants to go to DLP for a few days. He doesn't have a lot of holiday left, but has to take time off between Christmas and New Year as they shut his office.

We've found a reasonably priced package to do DLP and be there New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. We've not visited before, but we expect it to be crazy busy... but the lure of seeing the Christmas decorations is pretty strong (we'll never be able to see those in Florida due to term dates for me).

Is it a totally ridiculous idea? Would you go for it knowing it'll be busy or think it's worth passing this time?

Hi  It will be busy but doable with a good plan! The Christmas decorations and entertainment look great and it also looks a good time to go between closures. BTM will be open again and the next round of closures are due in January so it should be just Star tours that's closed.
Are you planning on staying onsite? EMH's are invaluable in DLP and it's also very convenient to be able to walk to the parks. If you're offsite it might be worth considering a Dream AP as that would give you EMH's.
Happy planning :donald:

If it's just Star Tours closed, that's not so bad- I'm assuming it's pretty similar to the DHS version?

Anxiously awaiting the call back- the trip is part of a coach package, so includes tickets and transfers, so we'll be arriving and leaving with them.
Will have to read up on how the FP system works- I've only ever used FP+ (DH was disappointed when I told him that's not how it works there!)

One of my friends who I met here, and who I met for the first time at WDW back in August 2014 normally does new year and says crowds are less than she expects every year. That sounds positive! Expect wall to wall and if it's less than that it's a bonus! ;)

It's the only original ST left in the world. So it doesn't have all the story combinations etc. I don't know if the closure is to upgrade to ST 2.0 though!

It's pretty simple. You go to the ride, scan your ticket, and it gives you the FP for the current window being distributed. You can't get anymore till you've used the one you have.
