New X-Ray Machines for Checked Baggage

Hoping you can help me....do you know if the new x-ray machines for checked bagged will damage VHS tapes?

I would not take the chance and pack in your carry on.

No it will not, VHS tapes are magnetic media, X-ray has no effect towards magnetic media.

Your tapes will be fine. I usually pack them in my suitcase. However, if they are really important I would keep them in carry on baggage. I've had my luggage searched before. I can see how it easy it would be to misplace something when repacking the bag.
