Just saw Breaking News that WDW has announced the new Annual Pass structure. This was of interest to me because we were thinking of getting Annual Passes for our family and going as many times as we could in a year. We were going to use points and miles to pay for as much as possible.

Base price for the "Incredipass" is $1,299. Then you can add the waterparks/photopass for additional amounts. For our combination it would be $5,286 USD for the 4 of us plus one Photopass subscription.

THEN we would still have to pay per-person, per-day for Genie+ - $60 USD per day for our family.

Add onto that we're going to lose a lot of value on two of our existing tickets because they will now expire on Sept 21st instead of us being able to bridge them to Annual Passes.

Plan is looking harder to achieve.

I will not be getting an AP. I was only barely above the break even ratio before and now it's probably not going to work out for me at all.

I was already looking at altering my vacations (back in 2019) and was going to scale back on Disney over a few years to hit some other locations on my list of places to visit, so these changes are annoying but I was already looking elsewhere.

If Disney was still a large part of my plans these new APs would be a major disappointment.

Also worth noting, my last AP was at DLR. It was already a hybrid of Leveled access, blackout dates and making park reservations so this change to WDW wasn't a big shock to me. I think those that did both coasts probably won't be as 'sticker shocked' as guests who were WDW exclusive.

Woah, that is insane! The only WDW pass that non-FL residents and non-DVC members can get is the highest one. They also removed the bi-coastal one that was good for both WDW and DL.

Now, we never bought WDW APs since we go there rarely but we did get DL APs a coupe of times...not anymore, it is just not worth it to us.

I just pulled up the pricing for the AP that we would have needed to buy in 2019, the last year they were sold, for reference.

1219 + 6.5% tax = 1298.24 USD

What it costs now:
1299 + 6.5% tax = 1383.44 USD
plus Photopass
99 + 6.5% tax = 105.44 USD

total cost to compare apples to apples 1488.88 USD which is almost exactly what I was expecting it to increase to, sucks but seems to be how much everything has gone up over the last 2 years.

I do like the fact that if you stay on-site you are able to make park reservations for every single day of your stay, not just the 5 for off-site people. The main reason we'd be getting them is so we aren't tied to using tickets on only a certain number of days. Last trip we found ourselves exhausted because we only had (i think) 10 days to actually use our 8 day passes!

PLAN is to use the personal shopper option thru Airmiles and the formula seems to be 14 miles/1 USD = 19K akkkkkk

I don't know much about AP's, we've never gotten them because they are expensive and we didn't usually go more than once a year. Have they always had blackout dates? I think that would be the only problem for me, other than the increased cost (but given everything at Disney seems to be increasing in cost I'm not sure that really makes a difference). I don't see when those dates are (maybe I missed them). I would also want the waterparks added. So I'd need to do the math, but it would be a long trip or multiple trips for me to make it worth while.

No blackout days on the only pass we are able to buy, the Incredi-Pass

Here's the direct link to the Disney website

Ah, I was confused :) highlighted bit, but above that says no blockout dates apply... can't be simple I guess!

The section you highlighted is in EVERY pass, I don't think it belongs with this one. The others say they have blackout dates and include a link to the calendar that shows them. I think this is a case of copy & paste!

Will you add Genie+ do you think?

Not sure about the daily thing but most definitely be doing the thing that will let us ride Resistance thingy and Flight of Passage. I can't get hubby out of bed before 10, heck even noon is a stretch for him when he's on holidays so this will allow us to go on the rides without getting up at the butt-crack-of-stupid o'clock to get to a park and still not get a boarding group. Our next trip will be for a month and all of these options will allow us to move at our speed, which is slower than a herd of turtles!!! Am I pleased that it will cost us more money? Not really but I'm just going to tell myself it's part of the ticket price and since I'll be using Airmiles for most, if not all of that, it won't hurt quite so much. I'm very aware of how privileged we are but we've paid our dues to get to this point in our lives.

I'm not sure how a family will be able to afford going anymore without dropping even more money OR needing to adjust expectations to doing only 3 or 4 rides a day.

I have a recovery AP (Platinum) that I’m activating at end of September. Doing at least 2 trips for 2 weeks. (Likely at least one additional trip, but TBD on dates) I had an AP in 2019 that I got 5 trips out of due to the pandemic. (3 pre closure, 2 post closure) It was well worth it in that case. We stay off-site. The free parking alone is the one of the biggest perks.

The separation of MM makes sense, as only one AP holder in your party needs it.

Can't you upgrade the existing tickets into an AP voucher for future use?

I don't think so... From Disney Tourist Blog (Tom Bricker):

"When the new-look APs first go on sale, you will be able upgrade an eligible ticket only in person. At a later date, Walt Disney World will offer upgrades on eligible tickets in the My Disney Experience app and/or DisneyWorld.com. As with Disneyland’s upgrade system, it’s recommended that the ticket be partially used and upgraded on its last day of use so as to not automatically lose existing Disney Park Pass reservations."

I'll call to find out for sure after the new passes go on sale.

From what I read the Annual Passes still include the free parking at the theme parks. This is good for people that stay off property. That is a substantial saving. I believe that the going rate is $25.00 us per day.
