New Virgin PE site

Oh no, they are very safe aircraft!
they will get you there in one piece, I just don't like them.
they have the better seat fitted and better IFE.
I am just an old sod who preferes an aircraft designed in the 1970's :rotfl: :rotfl:

And built in the US :)

Claire ;)

It will be a while before the Orlando flights are kitted out with the new style. The New York / Washington routes will be done first cos there are thier premium routes. Orlando will be about a year to 18 months.

Sorry - sis in law work at Virgin (no discounts though - just 10% :confused3 )

Yes most definately! :rotfl:

Would you buy a old French car over a Ford?? (Ducks and runs for cover)

Nope much prefer something better built!

Obi is that wall you are hiding behind big enough for two :upsidedow :rotfl:

Claire ;)

Are you kidding you two, have you ever driven through Dagenham? where Ford's are built? Home of the pikey screwdriver (hammer)......according to J Clarkson himself.
Any chance of a cuppa tea behind that wall?

I think if anyone regards the prices as too much or not value for money then don't pay it, save your money for better things.

I wasn't questioning whether the service provided was value for money, only their advertising slogan of 'pay a little more for alot more'. It simply cannot be called 'a little more' when the upgrade is often 1 and a half times the cost of the original Economy seat.

Discounted economy pricing for sure, the APEX fare, but this microsite is aimed at buisnessmen who will pay more than a no change 21 day advance ticket purchase fare, and then the difference is not that much. Non discounted economy can be up to £1200!

I suppose if you dont mind paying that much for an economy seat, the upgrade would seem much more worthwhile.

I think i'll just have to wait til I build up some airmiles before I can try it :)

the Manchester planes are not that old, they are younger than the similar Heathrow 747's.

Hi Obi,

Yes I agree the Manchester planes at present are not that old, it was just the older leased plane from Air Atlanta the 747-200 (now retired) I was referring to.

Ah yes, those ones.
Mind you, Club Orlando was quite nice, very cosy cabin

It was meant as a general comment from the way I see it, to be honest I haven't paid any attention to their slogan - all I am interested in is how much it costs me should I choose to upgrade.
I am sure there are times like you say where it works out extremely expensive and unrealistic however for us we are travelling next the day before the Easter 2008 price increase so do not come out too bad.

Our adult prices are £489 x 2 and child price £369 x 1.

Upgrade to PE is £275 adult price x 4 (inbound and outbound) , and £184 x 2 child price.

at the end of the day its up to the individual how they spend their money, if you're used to getting your UC and Business class tickets paid for by work all the time then of course it'll restrict your enjoyment of an economy flight in your own holiday time, if you'd prefer to spend your cash on the ground then you join the 75% of travellers who wish to do so. Anyone who has ever been upgraded cheap or for free yearns to fly that class all the time but when it comes to spending the money out of your own pocket and possibly foregoing something else its often a different matter.

Totally agree, I used to work in the travel industry and my company didn't fly me BC very often (only long haul) but I managed to get upgraded on the day most of the time once I flashed my business card, (I was dressed smartly, travelling alone etc) then I'd go back and rave about how I got upgraded by particular airline etc - no skin off their nose if they have spare seats.
Now I travel with two under five's, I don't think I would get the relaxing benefit of PE to warrant the extra £££'s. If it was back in the old days just me and DH and it was 199 each way I would strongly consider it.
JMHO.
