Just put down my down payment to become a new member / direct member with VGF. Very excited. A few things I wanted to let other people know who might be considering the purchase.
1. You have 10 days to back out.
2. With tomorrow's increase in price, a 150 point direct contract will cost you $1500 more. Not enough, I think, for people to rush into a major purchase but something to consider. In my case, I felt that locking in at $207 today and sitting on the purchase for a few days made sense. To lock in the price, I paid around $1600 ( there was another cheaper option but it required a credit check). If we change our mind within 10 days, no harm no foul.
3. Financing. Obviously better to pay in cash if possible. I was considering putting down half and then paying off the rest as fast as possible. Disney gave me the option of putting down half, and then having a 1 year loan at 5.5%. For the 150 point contract, comes out to $1300 and change a month. Much better than the 10-20% rates, if you can pay it off fast.
4. We didn't qualify for much in terms of discounts. If we bought 200 points, the price would have gone down by $500. Not worth the added cost I think.
I think that's about it. Any other things to consider would be welcomed. Let's see what happens tomorrow, and in the next 10 days.

Congratulations! We just got home from Disney and also sat down with a guide to possibly add on at VGF. Unfortunately, no one in my family has been bitten by the Disney bug like me, so I decided to pass.
Hoping the new Poly tower is amazing and I can convince the family to add on there. My DH hates VGF, but I love it! I had an amazing massage, followed by a great lunch at GFC.

Congratulations! It is a beautiful resort! I hope you and your family are able to enjoy it time and time again. That’s a great way to pay for it very quickly!

We decided to go ahead and buy 60 pts at VGF. We had our guide send us the contract Friday but waited a few days to decide. I just couldn’t pull the trigger at 150 since it isn’t the best resort for our family. However, it is perfect for my girls only weekends with my DD18 or my sister. The 60 pts should allow us a quick weekend away at VGF.

Going to put start saving for the Poly tower, but also keeping an eye out for awesome resale contracts at Copper Creek. The family loves it there.

Sure, the loan is 5.5%, but there's an origination fee. At least do the math honestly.
