NEW VGF Building

Exactly what I figured they would do and I love them. I'd choose that over a studio. The timeline and calling them Resort Studios made it sound like this is what they would be doing.
Do we think the "resort studios" will be less points?

I’m confused, the release I read said queen pull down plus single pull down (under TV I presume) kitchenette and split bathroom

For anyone interested in the artist renderings of the new hotel studios, you can see them on the Disney Parks Blog. They look like a regular hotel room.

ETA: From the DVC website (no mention of a microwave or even a toaster):

NEW! Resort Studios*
These all-new Studios will sleep up to 5 Guests, with 2 queen-size beds and a day bed. Enjoy luxe touches like quartz countertops, ornate crown molding and patterned tile. Resort Studios also feature a flat-screen TV, a beverage center with a beverage cooler and coffee maker, and a gleaming bathroom with marble tile floors and a combo bath/shower.

I like the look of the new resort studios and I never use the kitchenette so no loss there. I guess if the queen size murphy beds they’ve been using are comfortable I’d have preferred a couch/Murphy combo to have more room when not sleeping but not bad.

Not sure about the changes to the existing villas though. That neon pastel carpet, seafoam kitchen seating area? Not turn of the century Victorian…

Glad you do. :) I think they look very nice, but as a couple a room with 2 queens isn't appealing unless we had friend(s) with us. Aesthetically they're nice, functionally not great for us.

If the resort studios end up similar to those just redone at the Contemporary (except for the theming), I'm back in for an add-on. Purchase will still depend on the point charts, of course and the other details. Hoping the point charts won't be too bad. My best guess is that they won't be the same as the studios.

I love the Incredible theming. IMO, it's very well done!

Meh. I don't want two beds in a studio. And I hate those beverage coolers. Back to the drawing board for my small point add-on.

I feel the same way. It isn't functional for us as a couple; I'm afraid booking the deluxe studio will be even more difficult. I'd be more than happy to book the resort room when we are traveling with a friend.

I ahve a feeling there will be plenty of these resort rooms available at 7 months, just like Poly studios during certain times of the year.

I don’t understand why so many more studios and so little one and two BRs. It’s going to almost impossible to get 1and 2 BRs now. And since the Poly only has studios too, BLT will be more sought after maybe?

I can’t say for sure but I would guess this is in response to demand. Generally we see the studios book much quicker then the 1br or 2br. As they flood the market with studios my hope would be it balances the demand so those who want studios can book them and those who want 1br can get theirs.

Agreed that they won't be for everyone. We're a family of 3 so 2 real queens in something other than just OKW is welcomed.

Unless I missed it, there is no mini-kitchen in these units. Right?

So basically DVC is selling hotel rooms now? I'll pass.
Yeah, I came here to comment “so… resort studios are just hotel rooms?” There’s not even a microwave, and there’s less room with two queens. This is useful when you have people who don’t want the pull down, but the pull downs are a huge improvement over sofa beds that I don’t see it being the deterrent that sofa beds were.

I’m not sure how this counts as “DVC” honestly. I know some people will be happy, but I hope this is not a sign of the direction of studios going forward. And I’d have loved to see more 1BR/2BR/3BRs added.

Will these at least have the option of booking connecting studios? That at least would be a benefit of these.

But it raises the question as to whether people will buy into VGF2 for access to what amounts to a hotel room. I mean, if all I wanted was a hotel room that sleeps 5, I could book one with less hassle and commitment than what DVC offers.

I know a lot of people were expecting the resort studio to not have a kitchenette but I was hoping that wasn't the case since the rooms are bigger. I am disappointed that this is essentially a hotel room and while I prefer the extra queen over a standard sofa bed I would rather the flexibility of the Murphy bed.

If the points/night are cheap enough to justify staying in a hotel room versus a typical villa studio then we might consider it but I doubt that will the case. I would have serious concerns about being able to book anything in VGF that isn't a resort studio. Looks like we are probably back to the drawing board for our add-on contract. :(

I do think the new resort rooms look nice though.

It’s a good point but it comes down to why do people buy dvc. To some, then villas with washer/dryer and stove/freezer is the driver. To these, studios likely are not attractive. For me, driver was to lock in vacation to stay deluxe at relatively cheap prices. For this the studios work out great and is excellent return on investment. I’d love to stay in 1br but can’t justify the point increse (normally I jump to 2br if I want the extras). If these new rooms come at decent point price I’d likely book and drop some amenities to stay longer. If they come in with less but cost the same or more so Disney turns more profit it would be realy dissaponting.
