Not all of these may be 'new', but I discovered them recently and wanted to share as we veggies have some more options:

POP food court: they opened a flatbread station a few weeks ago, and there is a veggie flatbread, hummus, and a bean dip. POP IMHO continues to be the most diverse food court, with hard boiled eggs, dips, hummus, etc

SSR Artists Palette: has a similar flatbread station with veggie flatbread

The Mara (AKL): a few months ago I suggested that they offer one of their hummus options as the veggie menu here was a little scant. To my surprise, last week I found all 3 that they have on the Boma buffet! Also had a bag of pita chips for about $1.59. I was so happy, and in the cashier line the woman behind me went to get some after seeing my purchase - she told me that she is not veggie but loved the hummus

Tomorrowland Noodle Station:: the veggie bowl was HUGE ie I could only finish less than 2/3, and that after making a mess over myself! It had glass noodles, shredded veggies (cabbage, carrots, and maybe bok choy?), and a seasoned all veggie broth. I did add chili sauce as I like spicy foods. I was their first customer of the day (slow day) but when I left I saw a number of Asian families eating here

Trails End Buffeteria: ok, this is definitely not 'new', but I ended up here based on a recommendation from a fellow countrywomen at Guest Relations. It was near the end of lunch time, but they did a really good job of finding me things. I ended up with some tortellini specially made, which I rounded out with salad, corn bread, and apple cobbler. There was also rice and carrots on the buffet, but I didn't feel like those. The only fruit left was rinds, so I didn't take any, but someone came and left a HUGE plate of grapes, melons, and pineapple on my table, which my server insisted on boxing up for me to take away. Kudos to them for making the effort!

Just wanted to share, as there are a few more options!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write that list. DH and I and 2 of our children are vegetarians so it really helps to have information like this upfront. Thanks again :flower:

I'm always around to answer any and all veggie questions! If you have any, feel free to ask, or a search will turn up 2-3 good posts with input from other Dis veggies! :)

Thank you! We're headed back (tomorrow!!!!) for our second stay at Pop. I really liked the food court last time - lots of options for veggie me and non-veggie DD - and the flatbread station sounds like it's right up my alley! I am doing a little in-my-seat dance of joy. (Temp job that could maybe go permanent - can't let them know how crazy I am just yet. LOL) :cloud9:

Oh, yes, don't let on that you are a Disney addict - that has followed me around for years in my job.....

I made a point of seeking out the manager at the food court at POP to pass on my feedback and thank her - I think that is important so they know that they are making positive changes. She told me that the flatbread station opened just before Easter, and that they are evaluating it right now. So if you get a chance, let them know if you like it!!

Hi there,
It is so wonderful to see the great veggie options they are now offering!
We had the character breakfast at Ohana's in January and our chef was so great, he made us up a tofu scramble with peppers, tomatoes and onions.
I would also like to see the kids menus offering some better options than mac n cheese or pizza.
My kids also love pita with hummus,my daughter 12 takes it in her lunch almost everyday.
My kids also love veggie dogs and I know it would cost Disney a little more but we wish they would offer them for us veggie families.
I keep meaning to send an email but keep on putting off, who should I forward it to?

thanks
Kristin

Your kids may like the dip platter at Spoodles - $7 for a huge pile of pita bread and foccacia bread, and about five different dips. I couldn't finish it as my entree the other night.

I was really disappointed with my veggie burger though - it was the 'fake meat' kind, ie really dark and heavy flavoured. I personally prefer the mushroom burger type ones. I don't often have veggie burgers at WDW since I usually don't do counter service places.

I agree about the veggie dogs!

My favourite place is Yacht Club Galley. I went in last week and asked for the 'chicken sandwich with no chicken, but portobello mushroom instead'. Got it without the server blinking an eye. They also made me fries which were cooked in fresh oil ie not in the oil contaminated by chicken fingers.

I'll get you the guest communication address shortly - it's still in my other bag from my trip home...

Excellent! I'm looking forward to the noodles in Tomorrowland. :)

I would definitely have gone back for a 2nd veggie bowl on another day had I had enough days on my trip!

It would be nice though if they did some of the other options as veggie - how about the fresh veggie spring rolls that Nine Dragons has, for instance, as a counter service item somewhere?

Bavaria,
Would you mind giving me your opinion on something that's confusing me? We have dinner booked at Liberty Tree Tavern for July 4th. The menu is very meat-centric so I'm feeling half-daft for even booking it. The reason I *did* book it is because my boys will enjoy the character experience. We'll be in MK that day and don't want to leave before the fireworks and are eating at Crystal Palace on a different night. I know LTT do family-style platters. Do you think they would accommodate us, as vegetarians? Adding to the confusion is the fact that my 11yo is no longer vegetarian (long story, lol!) - if they don't give us an alternative to meat, would they at least give us a platter without the chicken and meat on it and perhaps just a one-person portion of chicken/meat for my 11yo? I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance :)

There are lot of Dis'ers out there who will say 'any full service location will make you a veggie meal.'

Well, yes, but.... some places just don't have the ingredients or ability to make an exciting meal, so it may just be some boring veggies. (veggie means lots of things, just not meats etc)

I know that they do have a veggie lunch entree, I've never eaten there (probably one of about five places I have not eaten on site). I would call ahead and let them know what you are looking for. (ask for the manager and/or the chef, as the podium staff are not always the best to ask) I always ask for some time of grain and suggest things if they can't ie risotto prepared veggie style, bulger, etc etc etc (WDW seems to be stuck on pasta). Then I ask for some veggies prepared in a flavourful way. Sometimes I get a response like 'oh, we can steam some carrots and beans'. UGH. If that's all they can come up with, I pass.

As I noted above, I was really surprised that Trails End took care of me with absolutely no advance notice, so it can be done......

I've had the Amber Waves of Grain at LTT for lunch, and I've read that it is what is substituted for vegetarians at dinner there. If it is the same dish, I thought it was really good and very filling. It was a few years ago that I had it, so I can't recall exactly what all was in it. I do remember that it was veggies and some sort of grain with a light, tasty seasoning.

While I haven't been back to the Liberty Tree Tavern with my daughter since she went vegetarian 2 years ago, I can tell you that the food at dinner is not all served on one platter - the veggies are all in their own bowls. It is just served family style, with the various dishes in large bowls that you can help yourself to. You would definitely be able to eat the Macaroni & Cheese (Stouffer's style), the potatoes, the veggies and the salad, as well as the dessert. I would certainly call ahead and ask if they could prepare some of the Amber Waves of Grain as well for your family.

Thats exactly what I would be looking for! Mac and cheese doesn't work for me, too much 'cheese'

When I ate dinner at Liberty Tree a few years back, they offered me some sort of rice dish as well. I'm pretty sure it was Amber Waves of Grain. I remember it having a tomato-based flavoring - I think it was described to me as a "tomato rice dish." It was filling and tasty enough, but not out of this world. I was also served bread and apple butter to start.

Pocah!! Who would have thought that I'd run into you on a veggie thread? :rotfl:

Well, sort of tasty and filling is sort of my upper limit of expecations at a lot of WDW places when it comes to veggie meals. That's why the noodle bowl was a pleasant surprise, as well as the flatbread stations.....

Now, does anyone have any thoughts on all the pasta dishes WDW serves up as veggie food? anyone else get sick of going to a full service restaurant and finding pasta?? That's another reason why LTT might be a good change of pace.

I think you might have me confused with someone else, bavaria. But anyhow, yes, pasta everywhere is rather monotonous, but it's certainly better than nothing! :) And nothing is what we used to get! Plus it's harder for me since I'm vegan.

I was at ASMusic food court last weekend, and was suprised to find "Vegetarian meals on request" on one of the stations... so, I requested it. The two CMs behind the counter denied having veggie meals. I pointed out the sign, and in the process, a chef came over and explained they didn't have anything really set, but she could talk to me and come up with something. It sounded promising, but by this time there were twenty adults and assorted tired kids giving me dirty looks, so I bailed and had the fish*. I would've liked something a bit more organized, given they were advertising it.

One of the chefs at Pop was very helpful, too, even bringing out a big book with an ingredient breakdown of everything they had.(Turns out the vegetarian lo mein entree has egg in the noodles.)

*Not vegetarian, I know. I've been heading more and more towards veganism these days, and I've been surprised to find that sheer inconvenience is more of a stumbling block than actually missing animal products from a taste point of view.
