Does anyone know when the new resort are starting and where can I find some info on them? Thanks very much

The Contemporary is still a rumor - no info other than rumor and speculation is available anywhere.

Other than the press release for the AKL, there is no information other than speculation available for those right now either.

My guide told me that AKV might go on sale somewhere around the February/March timeframe.

dw and i were at WDW last week. i, of course, asked at every kiosk i passed "what do you hear about AKL?" and then "any work re: contemporary DVC?" (my dw of course was mortified, but very patient, every time, lol) everybody was very tight lipped, and many said there jobs were at jeopardy if they even "made guesses" with people. i know the kiosk people aren't the most reliable sources for info, but it is fun talking with them! :) anyway, one person did say they expect sales to begin soon after the new year, and that there would be a short window, maybe a week or so, when current members would be offered a special discount. we are back dec 26-jan 7, i hope there is info then!

I called my guide and asked about AKV, but he was unable to say anything about it on teh phone. He did say we would "talk" when we are down there in December. My guess is that means it will be opening up for sales early in 2007.

The latest news from my guide is that the "guides" are in a tizzy trying to get thier upper mgmt. to release "official" info..hopefully BEFORE years end...so they can help potential buyers make good financial decisions.

Rumors, per my guide, still have sales beginning in Feb, price to be higher than SSR, SSR incentive to run concurrently (for a while) when AKV $$/pts. are announced, AKV mtc fees will be the $$ to watch, people already on waiting lists. Nothing that we already don't anticipate. ;)

No..my guide knows I'm NOT looking for an add on..so he's not trying to "sell me"... just keeping me informed!!! :sunny:

When I spoke with my sales guide I asked about the future of DVC and he said he will still have a job in the future. So SSR is not the end. My sales guide started as a quality assurance person back in 1991 and has been selling for DVC for the last 14 years.

According to my source the construction at the north wing is looking to be family suites. Apparently Disney lacks high end suites at the MK resorts. She doesn't believe that DVC will be a part of this equation...strictly Disney Resorts. Of course, things can change as we all know :)

what happen to the promise that Disneyworld made about no new hotels or parks?

I would think that would quality as a new hotel. DVC doesn't. DVC brings in money - so they not are treated as hotels.

the Polyn and GF both have very, very nice suites. Not enough by any means - but I don't think someone who wants to stay in a suite at either Polyn or GF would go with the Cont.

completely different - landscaping, atmosphere, attitude.

Now if they are just rehabing the North wing - completely different. that would not be considered a new hotel.

Is there really an official waiting list to buy into AKL DVC????

Bobbi :confused3

I doubt that, Bobbi, since my guide couldn't even verify for me that there would BE an AKV!

depends upon your guide.

have been on the Cont waiting list for a couple of years now....

some guides will do it others won't.

This will be a part of the Contemporary, not a new hotel.

Official... No.
However, we are on the "informal" list with my guide so as to be contacted as soon as it goes on sale, or there is any pertinent news. :smokin:

My guide did ask me how many points we wanted. I'm guessing they want an idea of what to expect for sales??
Maybe they're waiting to set the price according to anticipated demand...

When we took the Innovations in Action Tour in September our guides said that there are no plans for new resort hotels but there are plans for new DVC construction. They also said they valued their jobs too much to say where that construction would be before Disney makes the official announcements.

What we were told during our trip to OKW Nov 1- 5 was that if you are in Florida, they can talk to you about AKL but they can not talk to you about it on the phone. That is why it has not been officially announced because they are not approved yet in other states.

AKL has been officially announced. is it on the dvc member site - and they announced it to the papers a while ago.

here is the link
http://dvc.disney.go.com/media/dvc/...ber/justformembers/PressRelease_DAKVillas.pdf

they just can't sell you over the phone until your state has been approved.

the Cont has not been announced and by florida law can't be - they are not doing a simply redo like the AKL hotel rooms.

Cont will have to be completely redone - and make higher. I would expect the first and second floor to go up before DVC makes that announcement - if they do it then. remember this thing will be big at least 14 floors maybe 15.

All the utilities and plumbing must be started? something like that?

How about Disney's Grand California Villas. That will make everyone in California Happy.
