We just received our July DVC member email and I noticed that we were assigned a new guide. His name is Brad Smith...does anyone else have him? Our last guide (Robin Daniels) never returned our calls and for the last few months we have been guideless (we were told Robin left the company).

Any feedback on Brad would be greatly appreciated!

A dumb question.............what does one need a 'guide' for? When I have a question, want ressies, etc., I just call MS and do my thing. Am I missing something here?

You obviously haven't caught add-onitis yet. Your guide will be your bestest friend when you do!
We actually keep in touch with our guide from time to time and hope to meet up for a drink when we're both in WDW at the same time this fall.

Sorry, Punkin - no experience with Brad. Hope you're happier with him than you were with your previous guide.

That must have been frustrating. I've done two add-ons and during those transactions there were several points to hash out with my guide. More than I perceived for sure. I guess sometimes you think you know everything about prices, waiting lists, guarantees and UYs. I didn't.

Hopefully, things will improve with your new guide.

Oh wow I'm so upset! I really loved Robyn too! She was so sweet! She left Dvc, or the area? I'm hoping she just went to Ca to get future places ready! ;)

I didn't realize when I looked at our email today, that Robyns name was replaced, till you said something. However we have a different guide with the name Fleur Henry. Not sure if that name is a male or female?? And how would you pronouce it? :confused3

I just check mine and it looks like I lost Hassan ( only spoke to him when I bought-in)

With Edwin Mastrapa

Doubt if she went to CA. Our guide went to CA right after we bought, and her name is still on our member update emails.

She called us when she moved to CA, and helped us something regarding the final payment, but other than that we have not talked to her. But we have not caught addonits yet, we'll see if the bug hits us on our first trip home.

yes, Hassan jumped ship and is with Marriot now. I actually didn't find out until I ran into him at Olivia's. Talk about a shock! :teeth:

Robin is (errrrr, was) our guide also. Of course, she stopped calling me years ago after my first add on, lol. After the add on was complete, never heard from her again (as expected). Guess she didn't want to be my best friend after all. :rotfl2:

There are no Dumb Questions....Only Dumb Answers.

And to answer your Question....One needs a Guide to add on or refer someone too that is interested in DVC. I am not saying my guide is a friend...but It was nice to get a call when we were in Disney asking how everything was...and when I did tell her about the problem I had that was straightened out...she told me next time to give her a call and she will take care of it for me. If she could have or would have, has not been determined yet..or needed yet....but maybe one day it will.

Newbie question: Are you assigned a guide in your member paperwork or is it the person you purchased from? (We just put down our deposit two days ago!)

It is the person you purchased from..If you purchased direct through Disney....Congrats on becoming a new DVCer. :thumbsup2

We are even newer than you (still hoping to pass ROFR). However, both times we went to tour SSR, we were told that once a guide is assigned to you, either for a tour or a purchase, that guide stays with you forever. Forever can be a short time though if the guide leaves DVC or you have a serious problem of not wanting to deal with that person.

Our first tour was with a gentleman, who is still in the DVC video, but we found him extremely pushing and not all that helpful. I guess enough felt that he was not helpful and he left or was asked to (at least DVC says he is not working there anymore).

Our second tour was with a different guide who seems to be very nice and not nearly as pushy. Yeah there is still a little push, but it is their job to sell the points and earn their commision. We like him and look forward to dealing with him in the future. BTW, the only reason we aren't buying direct from DVC is the price break you can get in the aftermarket from the Time Share Store.

Still waiting to pass ROFR. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Guides are assign to you but sometimes they leave for something better or ask to leave if they dont make their goals. i said about 75% of the time you will have the same guide esp with all the new young ones they have hired.
My is James Stinson III, said he has been with dvc under a year, so we will have him for a while :thumbsup2
