Hi All! We have 150 pts plus 150 banked points to use this year. We were planning to use 131 pts at OKW for a 1BR in Oct and bank the rest, then do the same next year until we would take the cruise in 2008. My parents have now decided to come with us this year and we want to do the Grand Villa for 281 pts. What are my options? I can use my 281 and hope to get what I need in a couple years, or can I transfer points from another member to make up the 150 that I need? I saw something about no monetary transactions when transferring. I would rent points, but I don't know if we can book a GV for 6 nights using two different member's points.

Help please fellow Disney fans.

Welcome to the DVC Forums - thanks for using your first post here. :)

My advice is to use the points you have now for the Grand Villa. That way you can reserve now and have a better chance of getting one of the GVs. They can be tough to get the closer it gets to your dates. Many members reserve them as soon as the 11 month window opens.

You can always have points transferred in for 2008 if you need them. By then you may decide you don't want to cruise, or you may decide to pay cash for he cruise and rent points to cover the cost. Maybe you'll have more points than you think because you had to skip a trip or because you decided to add on. (IT happens, LOL). You'll also be a more experienced DVC member ina year or so. You won't feel quite so overwhelmed.

Why spend more money now (to get more points) when you don't have to? Wait until it's really necessary - that's my motto, LOL.

Best wishes -

I second this advice. Good luck.

Our home resort is Hilton Head. I don't believe I can book before 6 mos previous. Is this correct? Do you think I will be out of luck to get a GV?

If you were to only use 131 banked points this year, I do not believe you can rebank the 19 points that would be leftover. I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that banking and borrowing were "final transactions." I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Do you really need the GV? It seems a huge jump from a 1 BR. As wonderful as the GVs are do you really need three full bedrooms and 4 bathrooms for your group? The 2 BR units at OKW are very large and you would be able to use 176 points and still have some to bank for the future trip. Good luck with whatever you decide.

You can book 7 months prior to check out if you are using non-home resort points.

You may have trouble getting a GV at OKW in October if you have to call at the 7 month mark. Call day by day and use the waitlist for any day you can't get on the first call.

Good luck -
