Did anyone see the new Universal commercial? It has scenes from both parks where two guys are acting like the Hulk and one lady is riding with Captain America? Very cute, but anyway, did anyone notice that there is a scene from the Mummy in it?

It's just a small part, but it got me so excited to experience it for myself!

My kids love the part of the commercial with the lady riding with Captain America. I have not noticed the Mummy part, but I am usually in another room when the commercial comes on and miss most of it after the kids yell "it's the Universal commercial!"

It is so cool! The mummy part is where they show people in a roller coaster type vehicle yelling and the Mummy is coming at them.

I saw it just the other day...I am so looking forward to my upcoming trip!!!

My fav part of the new commercial is at the end of it, and only played every once in a while here in Orlando. It takes a jab at Disney by saying something like, Tired of fairy tales and pixie dust?? Plan a vacation that's out of this world. Cracks me up when they play that version. I also like the part where Frankenstein sends over 2 ladies a couple drinks from the bar.

I just saw that commercial on The Travel Channel during the show about behind the scenes at UO.

they have been playing the universal commercial here alot. I would say in an average day I see that commercial at least 10 to 15 times a day.

There's also a 12 page special section in the Miami Herald.

Huge ad, each page talks about the resorts, Mummy, and other attractions.

They paid big bucks for this.

Look in your paper, you'll start to see ads.

The media blitz is on.

Yet they still haven't announced the

OFFICIAL OPENING DATE OF DA MUMMY.

C'Mon? Stop teasing. It's gotta happen soon.

The commercial with the jab at Disney is not the one I'm talking about. There is a newer one out there.

It's all the same commercial, just 2 or 3 different edited lengths.
The longest version has Frankenstein sending over drinks to the women, a little bit of The Mummy, various shots of all over Universal's resort, the father and son at The Hulk, and the woman riding along with Captain America and the other Marvel Super Heroes on the quads, has the Cheap Trick song "Surrender" playing in the back ground on most, if not all of the commercial, and sometimes has the Disney jab on it sometimes doesn't depending on which version is being shown.

Why the need for the jab?

"tired of fairy tales and pixie dust?"

I don't feel that this is a jab at all. This is exactly the reason we like USF/IOA. For those who are not into fairy tales and pixie dust, Universal is the perfect choice.

The commercial doesn't say that there is anything wrong with fairy tales and pixie dust but offers an alternative.

To let the world know there's more to do in Orlando, than just Disney.
That's the great thing about having different options available.

So they need to take a pot shot to get that point across?

It's not a pot shot it's a more of a tease.
Maybe I should've used that term instead of jab.

Damo hit it right on the head.

Sorry didn't mean to turn this into a Universal versus Disney thread

Where is the pot shot? You are reading way more into this than there really is.

I don't think I am. And even if I was I've talked to others that ask the same thing, why the need to launch an attack?

It's not an attack.
It's just humor through advertising.
Budweiser and Miller engage in it, Arby's and Subway do too, so do many other numerous companies. It's harmless.

Wish I'd never even brought up the D-word now, sorry SpideyHulk 24
