New TV Shows - Fall Premiers - Update Your Opinion!

I'm thinking it's for the benefit of those who don't know the movies. Explains why Riggs is a little bit nuts. What I didn't care for was the not so subtle hints at the "birthday present." This was presented on Fox not FX so that bugged me a little. Who knows? I might hate it next week.

I didn't like that part either.

After rewatching House from the beginning on Netflix, and starting on The Sopranos, I can no longer watch any new series. I am spoiled by binge watching and not having to wait a week or months before a new episode. My way of viewing has totally changed

I binged watched all summer.....Walking Dead (can't wait for new season), Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things (short) and now working on Supernatural (LONG), BUT still can't wait for my regular shows to come back and try some new ones.

I think there is an encore this Friday or Saturday on NBC. Check your guide. If not, I'll bet you can catch it on demand on on their site. They are really hyping that show.

Thanks! I found it Saturday at 10pm and set the DVR up so that I won't forget again.

So, I watched Pitch tonight and it was my favorite new show so far. It was excellent! I did also watch Designated Survivor, which I thought was pretty good too, so I guess I pick up those two for regular viewing.

Really? Riggs and Murtaugh are my favorite movie cops of all time. The Lethal Weapon movies are sacred in my house. I was kind of bent out of shape they'd make a TV series out of it and wasn't going to even bother with it. But, I love Damon Wayans so I decided to give it a go. Seeing your response I didn't have much hope. I thought they nailed the characters and laughed out loud several times. Maybe it was the nostalgia but I really liked it.
I don't think I laughed, but I was amused through the whole show. And Damon Satan's is great, isn't he!?
Plus, I feel like they are "doing" the story from Lethal Weapon 1, where Riggs actually is borderline suicidal, and that move was not really that funny (dark humor I suppose, very dark).
I think they need to "introduce" the characters with some back story.

I don't disagree, but I feel that the tone of the show overall does not match the rather serious nature of the story of a suicidal guy. He comes off as too happy, and the threat of him actually doing it didn't feel genuine. It just didn't work for me.

Watched Greys Anatomy tonight...not really impressed. I'll keep watching though.

I think Greys Anatomy jumped the shark at least a couple seasons ago. I can't believe it's still on.

As far as new shows go - still a lot on the DVR, but, like most, I really liked 'This is Us', thought 'Designated Survivor' was pretty good, but nervous Keifer was bugging me throughout the show (I guess that's what anyone in his situation would be like), was not a big fan of the new comedies so far (still haven't watched 'Speechless', though).

Still have to watch 'Pitch' and 'Lethal Weapon' and kind of looking forward to the 'MacGuyver' remake, but have low expectations of that.

Watching Grey's Anatomy now.....hoping it gets better again. Hate to give up a show I have watched since day 1.

Didn't care for This is Us.....not my type of show.
Can't fit Designated Survivor on the lineup. I might try it online or wait for Netflix.

I tried to watch Lethal Weapon last night...ugh...it was bad. It was like really bad. I had to turn it off after the first 15 minutes. They try to do some similar scenes from the first movie, but it has no gravitas, no real intensity. The acting is so casual. Oh well, I get an hour of my week back.
Yeah I think I flipped channels halfway through. Not gonna go out of my way to watch it again.

So, I watched Pitch tonight and it was my favorite new show so for.
OMG Pitch was great!! such a good job with the writing, acting, storyline...

Designated Survivor has potential to be really good. I know this was first show but the cliched general with itchy trigger finger really irritated me. Has any one read the Jack Ryan series by Tom Clancy? Jack Ryan gets to be president through a similar scenario.

This is Us will also be DVR'd from now on-great show.

Netflix-waiting for Luke Cage (new) and Jessica Jones (returning). I do like Marvel though:D

Will give Quantico another try-agree it started off good and kinda lost its way towards end.

May try Blindspot again too if can get caught up.

And of course, Hawaii Five-O (mmm Alex Mclaughlin:P)

Well, the ratings are in, and Pitch didn't do too well. I'm expecting a short (but good) run for that. Most other new shows have been doing well this week, but Pitch and Notorious last night had really bad numbers. Oh well.

Thursday night football probably didn't help with ratings either.
Figures that quality shows (Pitch-have no idea about Notorious) that aren't about trashy scandals/reality won't pull ratings...here is to hoping Pitch gets a chance to survive:)

I loved This is Us! Will continue to watch for sure! I thought I set Kevin can Wait on my pvr but I didn't see it listed, probably not a big loss. I am excited for My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and my old favourites, Big Bang, Modern Family and The Middle.

Well, we watched Pitch and Notorious, which are the last of the 2016 "new" shows that interested us.

Notorious is not for me - DH may continue to watch it. Pitch is a keeper for now, depending on how the story unfolds. I don't really understand why anybody would be bothered by a woman in the big leagues. Sure, it's almost an impossibility due to the physicality of men v.s. women, but if not, what's the problem? :confused3 I hope the entire thing doesn't focus on the sexism issues - that would get boring.

There seem to be quite a few shows premiering mid-season this year that have potential. We'll look forward to seeing what happens after Christmas.

I had to turn Pitch off after 15 minutes. They started with a great premise, but the execution was just too political. If I wanted politics, I would watch the news.

Now Lucifer is starting off well for the second season.

Really liked This is Us, haven't watched Designated Survivor yet. Giving another chance to three returning shows we gave up on last season, Agents of SHIELD, How to Get Away with Murder, and Once Upon a Time. SHIELD seemed a little better than last season. Funny, all are ABC.

I'm just happy DWTS and Survivor are back again.

So far have seen premieres of This is Us (loved it), The Good Place (loved it, but have a feeling it won't be around for long), Greys Anatomy (have been with the show since season 1, so sticking it out, hoping it gets better), NCIS (like the addition of Jennifer Esposito, not thrilled with Wilbur Valderama so far). Also saw Law and Order SVU (same old same old), Survivor, Hawaii 5-O (can't go without my weekly Alex O'Loughlin fix). Also saw Big Bang (so funny), hubby watched NCIS NO (I don't think he even noticed Brody was gone!). Have a lot on DVR- Chicago PD, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Notorious. Waiting for Code Black this week, that was one of our favorites last season.Looking forward to see how Pure Genius turns out to be, but not adding many more new shows to our watching lineup this season.

Wait.... Code Black is back? Not sure why but I thought that one got cancelled. Love that show!
