New TTC Thread

I just found this thread and it looks like a good place for me.

I am 28 years old and have had 2 miscarriages in the past year. One at 8 weeks and the second at 6 weeks. (My 2nd one happened on the due date of my 1st pregnancy- could it get any worse?) I have had all sorts of blood work for hormone levels and to test me for lupus anticoagulant and anti-nucleotide phospholipid (i think that was the one)- EVERYTHING is normal! yet, i am healthy and can't seem to stay pregnant. My doctor keeps telling me that this isn't uncommon and I AM YOUNG! well, that is a crappy excuse to me and I am getting tired of hearing it. We have an appointment to see a specialist on Thursday to see if genetic counselling would be worth it...

I haven't read all of the posts, but has anyone had a common experience?

Using progesterone during my next pregnancy is a possibility as well- has anyone else tried this?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Welcome to the wildest ride in the west...north...south...east! Glad to have ya but hope your ride is short. Feel free to be :hyper: in your 2WW or :furious: when you need to be. We'll be here to :woohoo: your BFP or :sad1: for a BFN.

My SIL had something similar to what you describe. She had 4 MCs one of them at close to 20 weeks and had to deliver. Very sad. They have chosen to end their infertility ride but not before she had a mulititude of test like yours. Never did find out the real reason.

Thanks for the welcome D&DDisney and KiKi Mouse. and yes, i hope that my stay won't be long. The more I talk to people the more people tell me how many people they know that have had at least one if not more MCs. I am interested to see what this specialist has to say especially since I got "my little friend" last week (only 3.5 weeks after i miscarried)... that doesn't leave us much time to come up with a plan if we are going to try this cycle.

Thanks again for the support.

Hi Hotveggy...welcome to TTC thread! As others have said, I hope you aren't stuck with us long! :goodvibes Good luck with the specialist. I think the not knowing what's wrong is the worst! I was really upset when we received DH's test results which showed sperm issues, but I must admit that, since we received those results, I haven't felt this relaxed with TTC since we first started 2 years ago! I guess part of it is because I no longer get my hopes up.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!!

Okay Ladies, I am FREAKING out! Today is CD32 for me!! Average has been 29 days. I've only had a cycle this long 2-3 times in the past 2 years and one of those was my chemical pregnancy! :faint: And my temp this morning was 98.7! My normal temp is around 97.1 before O. Of course, my temp doesn't mean TOO much because I haven't been temping at all...just decided to test it out this morning since AF was later than normal.

I don't know what to do! I don't have any pregnancy symptoms, but I also don't have my normal AF symptoms either. I can't possibly be pregnant...what with DH's test results, our lack of BD'ing a whole lot this month, no "timed" BD'ing, no temps, no OPK's...nothing. I pretty much gave up on all of that after getting DH's test results..decided to just wait it out until his follow-up. I also quit the Metformin because it was making me feel bad. Acccckkkk...freaking out! :hyper:

I stopped on my way home last night at the Dollar Tree to get some tests, grabbed, them, got in line to checkout...then felt like AF was starting RIGHT THEN, so thought I was wasting my time, put the tests back and left. Of course, nothing showed up. I am terrified to test! TERRIFIED. I mean, with our BDing this month and DH's sperm...I can't possibly be?!?

I have been dieting and exercising more regularly...exercise has mostly been the wii fit and some walking (very little...like 15 min at a time because our dog is fat and out of shape and that's all he can do right now!). Could all of that mess with AF?? I've lost 23 pounds...right before I got pregnant with DS I had lost 20 pounds. OMG...freaking out!::yes::

Surely I'm getting my hopes up for nothing and I'll feel stupid later on today or tomorrow when AF arrives. :worried:

After a miscarriage, and ectopic PG and 2 1/2 years of infertility treatments, I conceived Hannah. My progesterone levels were low (and I only knew because they were more vigilant after the ectopic PG). I used progesterone suppositories until I was about 8 weeks along, and went on to have a healthy baby girl.

If you do become PG again, call your doctor right away and make sure he orders both the HCG and progesterone level blood tests. Just a little boost of progesterone could make the difference for you. Good luck!

So, are you going back to the dollar store today? We must know! :goodvibes

I don't know. I might try to wait it out. I have to go out of town for work tomorrow and Friday, so I thought about trying to wait until after that to test. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know!!!

Test Skuttle Test! You've got us all on pins and needles!!!!!:hyper: :hyper:

You just never know.....;)

Allison -- you MUST go and test!!! I have been still lurking on this thread and silently cheering you guys all on...I know how much you have been through and I was sorry to hear about DH test!

Go take a HPT --- I will have my fingers crossed for you till you post again...

Good look!!!!

Thinking of you!!!

Well, I bought two tests from the dollar tree on my way home from work. I couldn't wait so I took one when I got home and it was a BFN. :(
So I guess I'll try to wait a few more days and try again in the morning.

Still no AF, still no symptoms of pregnancy or AF, temp still up. Today is CD 33.

Will test tomorrow morning.

I'm going out of town for work...so I won't be able to post my results tomorrow morning! I'll post them tomorrow night as soon as I get home. Of course, tomorrow is Friday the 13th so I'm not sure how lucky I will be!

Well, we'll be waiting to hear tomorrow night then!! I'm keeping everything crossed for you that your first test was just too early!! :goodvibes
And I'm hoping Friday the 13th is a VERY lucky day!! (have my IUI tomorrow...LOL)

Hello everyone, and Welcome, hotveggy!! Good luck to you!!

Well, this cycle is turning out to be different...again. LOL
My RE decided this time that since we've done 6 cycles with Clomid (and no success), we'd do straight injectibles this time around. So from cd 5 through cd12, I did Follistim 125 IU once daily. Last night was my last Follistim injection, and tonight I will trigger. That's another one of the big differences this month. We're going earlier than we have been. We normally don't trigger until around cd 15 for IUI on cd 16 and 17, and this time we're triggering on cd 13 for IUI on cd 14 and 15. Ack...it's so confusing.

Also, when I went in for my u/s last night, they only found one good follicle (and it was only at 17.5), which was a little discouraging for me. They explained that Follistim works differently than Clomid. I think it was something about how Follistim works more naturally, like the body should when stimulating follicles, and will more often produce fewer follicles than Clomid, but they'll be better quality...I'm not even going to pretend to know what they were talking about. LOL All I know is that they told me that even with the one good follicle, there is still a chance of multiples...because the quality of the follicles are so much better with Follistim, and there is a greater likelihood of multiple eggs coming from one follicle...WOW!! Do I know how to talk in circles or what!?!?!?!

So now I have a question. They sent me today for blood work. She said something on the phone about reassuring me that things are OK for this cycle. And that with this test, I want to say that she said she'll be able to tell about how many follicles/eggs are being ripened...But I missed what exactly she was testing for...LOL I just reported to the lab when I was supposed to like a good girl. ::yes::
So I figure I'll ask here rather than call her back and bug her. What would they be testing for?

So anyway, now that I think of it, I'm REALLY hoping that 13 will be lucky for me this month!! I'm triggering on cd 13, and having my IUI on Friday the 13th!! :faint:

Welcome hotveggy!:yay:

Good luck with your IUI today ChrizJen!

My DP (partner) has her first appointment on July 2nd. Her new insurance goes into effect on July 1st. She has never tried to get pregnant so we have no idea what will happen but we are excited to be trying again! She has regular 28 day cycles and ovulates around day 12 of her cycle so we will see what our lovely doc has to say on the 2nd. She has been trying to stop smoking for a little over a month. UGH!!! We argued about it last night-caught her smoking in the garage! She is taking wellbutrin to try to help her quit---NOT working well. We need to get her on the Chantix quick!! It will probably be her August cycle that we do our first IUI that is IF she has been smoke free for 30 days. :rolleyes1

Hope everyone enjoys there weekend!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and I wish luck to everyone!

So we saw the specialist yesterday. He is an MD though he seems much more into research than actual patient care- no matter to me as long as he knows his stuff. He asked a lot of questions but really didn't give us much info at this time. He said that given my history and my age that there is a 95% chance that I will go on to have a normal pregnancy though of course he does not have a crystal ball. He kept saying (at least 2-3 times) that he wished that they had sent the first fetal tissue from the first miscarriage out for chromosomal analysis. My doctor at the time said it was not necessary as I was a healthy 27 yo and it was my first loss. Apparently, we would have a lot more answers if we had that info? So anyways, they took about 9 viles of blood and tested for more clotting disorders as well as Z protein- This is something this specialist is specifically studying. My husband and I are both also having karyotypes done to see if either of us carries any abnormalities. I am also having the tissue that they saved (weird i thought) from the first D and C reviewed by a special pathologist that may be able to find something in there. I am quite confused what they are looking for.

He said that there is no reason that we can't try this month- so we plan to do so. I ended up with a script for progesterone that I am to start 3-4 days after ovulation. This was the one thing I did not care for about this doctor- he started talking about treatment options and mentioned progesterone (something my regular GYN had mentioned) but then said-" I don't think it will help you but I will give you a prescription if you want it" I was irked by this bc if it is not going to help- why mention it at all? I decided that I am willing to try anything at this point- so we will see how that goes. If I don't get pregnant this month I will go for a Hysterosonogram to see if there is any scar tissue from the D and C. Other than that it will take 4 weeks for all the tests results!! Hopefully, I will be able to stay sane while waiting.

Sorry for the long post- but just wanted to update you all.
Happy weekend!

Hi all! I hope to be joining this thread once DH has his vasectomy reversal! I am in the process of finding a doctor for that now, will be making calls on Monday! I'm so excited about this! We have 4 kids now ages 12-6, and I just cannot wait to add a new blessing into our lives!

I wish everyone here lots of luck!

Chelle, Good luck!! I'll keep my everything crossed for you and your DP too!! :thumbsup2

veggy, while it seems frustrating and exhausting to be put through all of this, you'll be glad you did!! I found it WAY more frustrating when I was going to an NP who never tried anything different. Month after month after month. Once I found my current RE (who wanted to know everything about me through past history, testing, etc.), I realized that she only wanted all of this info because she wants to do everything she can possibly do to help me! : :thumbsup2 I say it sounds like you've found a good one. ::yes:: Stick with him!! It may be frustrating now, but once you're pregnant, you'll thank the heavens for all of the poking and prodding, and testing!!

Still anxiously awaiting the return of Allison!! :goodvibes

I had my IUI today, on the rainy Friday 13th. I went in, and the RE told me that my blood work came back (she was testing for levels of estrodols, or something like that...) and that she could tell that I had definitly not ovulated yet (as of yesterday afternoon) (YAY!!!), and that while I have only one good follicle, I likely have 2 eggs ready in that one follicle!! (YAY again!!) So she looked at the specimin, and it looked AWESOME she said...LOL. And she's usually low-key, doesn't really talk a lot. But she mentioned that about the specimin, and then she said that I had TONS of EWCM. (YAY again!)

So we'll go in for #2 tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Welcome, minnieandmickeymouse!!! :thumbsup2
Good luck, and as is tradition here, I hope that you're not here for very long!! :goodvibes

Hi everyone!

I took two tests this morning with FMU and got two BFN. :( :( I used a dollar tree test and a cheap test from Walmart (Answer brand). I checked out the Answer brand on POAS.com and looks like it's not very sensitive.

Today is CD34. Still no AF. Still high temps. Ugh! My cycle normally lasts 28-30 days. I have NO idea when I O'd because I wasn't keeping track. Normally O is around CD18-20.

I bought a two pack of digital tests on my way home today. I want to try to wait to test on Sunday morning, or should I not even bother?

If I was pregnant, should I have gotten a BFP by now? Last time my cycle was this long in the past two years was with the chemical pregnancy, but I got a BFP on CD31 with that. Of course, that one didn't turn out well so I don't really want to copy that cycle!! ;)

I just don't know if I should stop keeping my hopes up. :confused3

Allison--Sorry you haven't had a BFP yet, but maybe the weekend will yield some positive results? Regardless, way to go on losing 23 lbs!!! I bet you look amazing!
