Allison - :grouphug: I know my neighbor was a member of a local chapter of Resolve when she was struggling with infertility and it was really helpful to her.

Kiki - I hope things are going well. Don't let people get you down about age. IF I get pregnant again I will be forty before I have a baby and people will jsut have to accept it.

kiki-Lame about the age remarks. None of their business. How are you feeling?

I'm doing ok. I've been sick-sinus drainage, which is killing me. I finally sucked it up and asked for permission to take something. We told the inlaws last night. So my parents, his parents, 3 of my coworkers and one of his know. It's crazy early, so that will probably be it for the time being.

Allison-I'm glad the blogging is good for you. I love it. It's been good for me the whole way through just to give me an outlet, especially when I want to talk about things, but can't. I think if a support group won't accept secondary fertility, they're pretty useless. I can't imagine this group saying "you have a kid, go somewhere else" and I'm one without a child! I do think having a one on one buddy like described could be bad because of the problems with if one gets pregnant and the other doesn't. I can see me haing a hard time with that in the same position.

Well, when you've been sharing all of your heartaches, surgeries, procedures, charting, etc. and someone finally does get pregnant, I can see being a little envious, but not ending the friendship all together.:sad2: God knows I've been sad and jealous of my share of women, but I've never completely dissed them. Especially if I know how hard they tried and the rough road they went through to get where they are.

Momsully and Kiki - Age doesn't mean squat when it comes to having kids. This whole process has made me come to realize that as long as women (and men) are healthy enough to care for the children, then more power to them. :thumbsup2

I'm doing a bit better.
Had a nuchal translucency ultrasound last week to check for down syndrome (for those that say age doesn't matter...it does) and all was perfect. Have bloodwork scheduled for the end of this month and another ultrasound at the end of October. Not really thrilled with things being scheduled. Hospital was really good and not discussing my due date which remains unknown to me. The tech even folded and stapled the blood req form so I wouldn't see it. As soon as I laid down she said "there's your baby and there's the heartbeat". I guess they put the "crazy" stamp on my file.
The bathroom paranoia is still there. One more week of progesterone. One day at a time is all I can deal with. I was 13w on Sunday.

Thank you all for being so understanding. It has really really helped.

Morning Ladies ~
Just checking in.

Kiki Mouse ~ Not sure how old you are but I'm starting out at 38. I also know a few women who have their children later. People say many things out of ignorance and fear which you have none of so it's hard to relate to! You are a strong and compassionate person and I have gotten that just from reading your posts! :goodvibes Surround yourself with those that will give you your postive energy and support! :grouphug:

Allison ~ I think the support group is a great idea! You are totally going about it in the right way by making sure you ask questions, ie Secondary infertility, other experiences. You will get a variety of experience there and you never know out of the stories you here something may just click that you never heard or asked before.

Courtney ~ Sorry bout the sinus troubles. That stinks! Did they say you could take tylenol or something?

So I think that I messed up this fancy tester thing. It is probably the easiest thing in the whole world but if there is a way to mess it up i have found it. :headache: It's not asking me to test and the little m thing has gone off. I'm just going to let it go through the motions and try the cheapie ones again next week.

Hope today is a great day for everyone!:thumbsup2

esbrick-I was given the green light for sudafed, claritin, robitussin, lozenges, and several other things. I took 3 doses of claritin and 2 of robitussin. I'm nearly back to normal now, so I've quit taking stuff.

What cycle day are you on? Did you initially set the month? It shouldn't say m other than when it needs you to set the month, or it reminds you to, anyway. It only asks you to test starting on day 6 or 9 the first month you use it and goes until you start a new cycle or it notes a peak, if that makes sense. You don't test everyday. Hope that helps!

Kiki - I hope everything continues to go well for you.

Aurora - I had a sinus infection during my 2nd trimester and that drip was the worst! I actually had no MS the 1st trimester and didn't start throwing up until that darn sinus infection in the 4th month! Tylenol didn't do much to help, but one of the things that my OB suggested that helped most was a spoonful of honey. It feels kind of weird the first couple times, but really helps coat the throat and make the drip more bearable. :thumbsup2 Hope you are finding some relief!

Courtney ~ Thank you so much for telling me that! You were such a big help because I thought I did something wrong! I turned on the machine today and of course it was blinking and asking me to do a test! I am on day 9 I thought it was going to start on the 6th day! Of course not ovulating, didn't expect it though:).

I'm glad the weekend is here. My DSD is with her Mom this weekend and we started joking last weekend about finding her a "husband", one of those sit up tv pillows with arms, in B,B & B or Target so I'm going to see if I can surprise her by finding one this week. She gets a great kick out of finding a "blue or green husband in Target"!

Take care!

esbrick...did you figure out the OPK? I just use the sticks! LOL!!

I didn't make it to the Resolve meeting. DS ended up having soccer practice and DH had open house at his school so I had to bring DS to practice.

I go in on Wednesday for my first follicle scan of this cycle!! Hoping for good follicles but not 20mm yet! IUI on Thursday would cause me a bit of a headache at work! But I know I can't be picky. I'm pretty nervous about this cycle since it's probably our last one before my DR sends us to an RE. After we get to the RE, I'm not sure what our options will be since I doubt my insurance would cover much. :( :( It's kinda scary to think that this may be it...my last try.

Allison -

My insurance said it didn't cover infertility treatments, but it did cover all doctor visits and testing to "support a diagnosis of infertility," including folicle scans. My RE knew how to code tests and visits to make sure they were covered. Don't worry too much.

Good luck this month.

Denae

Denae, I think mine may be the same. So far, my Dr's visits and follicle scans have all been covered. My metformin and progesterone is covered as well. Surgery was also covered.

The HSG, Clomid, sperm wash, HCG trigger, and IUI have NOT been covered.

We also still have the option of DH having surgery to see if that helps his motility (last time we had 44% motile). That wouldn't be considered a fertility treatment and would be covered. I just wish there was some way to know if that would help us or not. I'd hate to put DH through that surgery for nothing! His count seems to be fine as long as we "save" the sperm for a few days before IUI. Our 1st, we only waited 2 days and only got 11 million. Last time we waited about 4 or 5 days and got 41.7 million! The problem is the motility. Damn lazy sperm!

I guess I'm just waiting it out, going to go to the RE to see where we stand and what our options are and then figure it out from there.

Sometimes I just feel dumb with all this stuff. So I started off waiting to get the sign to test and then I got the sign (at the 9th day just like Courtney said may happen) and I get that still not ovulating notice. Fine I'm good but the days are not changing until the afternoon after 3 PM! Well so much for testing with first pee in morning, :confused3 that's not gonna work. So I skipped one day thinking that the blinky thing will still be going off the next morning because I'm already resolved that I skrewed up the timing and of course the next morning NO BLINKY THING!!! I'm going to Walgreens this afternoon and going to pick up the expensive tinkle stix and do that in the am for the next few days. Someday I'll get this right;)!

Allison ~ I hope all this insurance stuff works out for you. There are ways to work around things and these drs know how. Good luck on the follicle scans! Fingers and toes crossed for you!

Hope everyone is doing well!:flower3:

Trying to make babies is just so much fun :P~~~:badpc: I couldn't find a "bang head against the wall" smiley.

esbrick,
Don't worry too much about the OPKs as they can be confusing. Just be sure you are BDing every second day until you see the clear temperature shift (if you are temping). How long is your cycle and when do you normally ovulate?

esbrick-I will say that's an annoying part of the monitor. You have to set it within the 1st 5 days, and within 3 hours of when you wanted to test. For example, I set mine around 6 or 6:30, that way I could test between 3/3:30 and 9/9:30. It's annoying to have to be that specific for setting it.

I looked up infertility in my insurance certificate booklet and it just says it excludes anything relating to IUI or IVF.

I'm assuming everything else would be covered.

Then again, what else is there?

I guess the key is how "related to" would be defined. Like my hysteroscopy was covered even though I was doing it for IF reasons, but I guess it could be coded as something else. Funny how the HSG to find out if there was any blockage/tissue was not covered, but the surgery to remove the tissue found by the HSG was covered. I'm definitely not complaining!! But it just doesn't make sense!

Like how in the world can all of my follicle scans be covered? Again, not complaining, but I fail to see the logic. Maybe because I'm not a medical person. I guess it is coded another way, but why else do you have follicle scans if not for IUI or IVF??

Esbrick...I don't think it's you, it's that monitor for sure!! Sounds complicated! Just what we need while TTC...more complications! ;)

Your HSG wasn't covered? That's strange! I had a sonohystogram (a similar procedure and also very painful!) and my doc got it covered by saying it was for painful periods (which I do tend to have, so it wasn't a total lie!)

I hate insurance!

Si-am..I double checked re my HSG and I was wrong. It was covered. I remembered having to pay for it, but that's because I have a high deductible insurance plan and hadn't met my deductible at the time I had the HSG, but it did count towards my deductible, so it was covered. That makes me feel better. I kept thinking it was not covered.

Probably most of the testing is covered. Some drugs as well??? My insurance paid for my Clomid. My insurance/public health doesn't cover procedures such as IVF or IUI but pretty much everything to get to that point.
