Hi ladies!

we are leaving this evening for a 4 night trip to get one more use out of our APs. Judging by the 7 day OPK I bought and the CBEFM, I should be ovulating in the next day or two, while we are at Disney! Maybe this is an omen! We were married there too, so I am hoping for some pixie dust so we can bring home an extra special "souvineer"!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all! Hope we are getting some BFPs! :cool1:

I am still not pg. I think AF should come today or tomorrow. This would be month #4 trying...I'm giving myself 7 months before I start freaking out (DD took 7 months). My co-teacher just found she is 6w along and I'm so excited for her. We started trying the same month, so it took her 3 months. Maybe her luck will rub off on me. :thumbsup2

Quick questions...she told me her doctor said that those with tilted uteruses should raise their hips to help the sperm get in. Have y'all heard this too? I have one, so I'm wondering if doing that would help any.

Happy TTC!

Afternoon! What a freaken day!

Met with my RE, Dr K, he was very cool. I liked that one of the first sentences out of his mouth after he looked over my file and questionaire was "OK, here's the plan!" He said that we are going to go after this with "military precision" and that we will all be working for the same goal, a healthy pregnancy:)! He had a great mix of bed side manner and get to the pointedness. (my own new word ) He asked if I had any questions and I didn't really as there is nothing to ask yet. He also told me that if I came up with any questions that I could call him on Friday as he was traveling tomorrow. He made a very good first impression! Now to the :scared1:"Holy Crapballs":scared1: part! So he looks at my chart and says looks like you are in here at just the right time to begin the first step of your plan if you have time. Mike and I just looked at eachother and I said ok. So in the space of 10 minutes I was scheduled for an HSG! So my first question was could I eat cause I was starving and they said yes. Then they scheduled me for the procedure 2.5 hours later. Sent DH on his way and then I went to work for an hour and then went back. I didn't expect what I saw when i came in the room for the HSG. It looked like an operating room. Dr.K knew I was nervous and he was very calming. Next thing I was lying down legs up and being told what to do. I have to say that during the time I was praying I wasn't going to poop from the cramps it was very interesting:scared1::upsidedow So we found out that my uterus looks good and I definately have one clear falopian tube. He's not sure about the other as he didn't see any fluid go through it but said it could have been because the tube was having a spasm from the liquid. The techs in there, 2 ladies, said the same thing to me later. He said we were good to go there and now it is the blood test that will give us more info. So I've covered Step 1! Mike has Step 2 which is to give a sample. The cool thing is that he can do it at our local hospital and they will send the results to Dr.K. Step 3 will be at the beginning of next month when/if (I can always hope!:cloud9:) my cycle starts again. One either day 2, 3 or 4 I need to get blood tests: FSH, Estradis (SP?), cystic fibrosis screen. I spoke with my diabetic endocronologist office today and they said that they can do the tests and then send the results off to Dr.K's office and then I can also get an up to date Diabetes check up as well. :yay:

So there I am. It's been a long day. That HSG test took me by surprise but hey if I was in at the right time I figured I might as well just get it over with right and Step 1 is done! I'm figuring that what they told me was good news too, ie no blockage and uterus looks good so now all we need to figure out is what the heck is going on with me:confused:

Irisbud ~ pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: OMG that would be brilliant! As my BFF tells me she's never wished anyone "Good Sex" before and now she wishes it to me all the time! So, here's to "Good Sex"!!!:lmao:

Allison ~We are looking at DCL for Easter 2011! I need to call this week to get our ressies transfered. I love DCL! The DCL forum is very cool on here too but let me know if you want to know anything.:thumbsup2

Si-am ~ Thanksgiving at Disney is going to be wonderful! We were there last year for Christmas and I told Mike that for our 5 year we are going to do it again! It is truely magical! Keep that in mind!pixiedust:

D&DD ~ Hope your feeling a bit better today. I know this is a hard time for you. Give Disney a hug for me and you are all in my prayers.:grouphug:

vettechick99 ~ Best of luck!

OK so I'm off to do a little work. Gonna leave early tonight I think. Again, not a work focus day.;)

Hope you are all well!

E, Sounds like you had a very productive RE visit!! That's great you were able to do the HSG and not have to wait until your next cycle! Plus, you didn't have time to read all the info about how painful it may be. ;) It wasn't bad for me at all, but I read so many horror stories before I went (Damn you, Google!), I had myself very nervous! I hope things continue to go well! :) :) :)

This will be our first time on DCL. Of course, I'm still hoping that I'll have to cancel due to being pregnant! The first time I've ever hoped to have to cancel a WDW trip!! I may have some questions for you later on, if it turns out this TTC thing isn't working out for us. DH keeps saying that we won't be able to afford the cruise, but that our RE will get to go on a really nice cruise after all of this is done. LOL! We did a lot of research, then we started the "hard core" TTC stuff so I haven't paid much attention to it.

Vettechick: For my IUIs, they always tilted the bed backwards afterward to help the sperm travel. Can't hurt!

I went in today for Day 3 (even though it's Day 5, they said it was okay) ultrasound and bloodwork, plus a complete blood workup in the lab. They took FOURTEEN vials of blood from me today. I am so bruised-- they even had to use the top of my hand after the arm went "dry." :scared1:

My u/s and FSH test turned out okay, though. FSH numbers are great and my ovaries looked good, so I don't have to stress about the age factor quite as much as I was. I'll get the results of the rest of the bloodwork at my next consult on Dec. 1. Maybe then I'll have some sort of "plan!"

As for the Thanksgiving trip, I am SO excited! We usually go Christmas and I just love all the decorations. I've been so stressed about everything lately, I really really need this vacation. :yay:

Esbrick-- what an awesome RE visit! So glad you got the HSG out of the way before you had time to go home, research, and get all anxious.

My SHG (similar) was so painful I was sobbing on the table, and I swear I will NEVER have an HSG, I don't care how much my RE wants me to. ;)

Allison, I hope it works out that you can afford the cruise. I hate that infertility stuff is so expensive and I wish more states mandated coverage. The way I see it, it's a legitimate medical problem since our bodies aren't doing what they are supposed to. I don't think wanting a baby should be treated as unnecessary, like plastic surgery. :sad2:

irisbud Have fun on your trip!

Vettechick, it couldn't hurt to tuck a few pillows under there for a while!

Hey Vettechick! Long time no see! Scooner is just adorable! What was she for Halloween?

The NP at my last OB's office did tell me that too, but she said it depends which way your uterus tips - some tip back and some tip forwards. So, it wouldn't do much good to raise your hips if your uterus tips forwards, you might be better off on all 4s with your hips raised, as attractive as that sounds. Good luck to you and everyone else here.

I will finish my last pack of bcp on Saturday, then don't plan on taking anymore. TTC didn't take long for us last time, but I still always worry b/c of my history with endo and cysts. But nobody IRL knows yet (except DH!) so anyone who knows me on FB, please don't say anything!

:wizard::wizard: all around!

Thanks! She was Pocahontas. I'll have to find a picture to post. What about your little one?

Mine definitely tilts backwards because I always have back cramps. I think I'll try it more this month. Still not AF, but BFN this morning so its only a matter of time before she comes.

Another question, do you guys use Pre-Seed? I am thinking my Astroglide is not helping even though my gyn says it's not a big deal.

Thanks everyone!

vettechick99 ~ Yes! We use Pre-Seed! It is really safe and being that we have gone the Astroglide and KY route Pre-Seed by far, IMHO, is the best! :thumbsup2 I was actually looking at our tube the other day and thinking we need to get another.:)

Si-am ~ Wow that is GREAT news on your blood tests! Glad your FSH is good and ovaries are too! Yahoo! I'm nervous about those tests now as well. I mean now that we've figured out that i have one good Fallopean tube and my uterus looks good then this is either ovulation related and/or chemically related. I am forcing myself not to research to much but may call the doctor on Friday to get an opinion or 2. I just gotta put it out there but I firmly believe that if "Infirtility" were considered more of a "man" related issue there would be more coverage. Please! Look at the fact that BCPs are covered intermitenly by insurance but Viagra is ALL the time! Hello!? That's nuts!

Allison~ I hope you get to go too! But I hope you get pg more!:goodvibespixiedust:

I am suppose to go for physical therapy this eveing but i am going to reschedule my appt. I just have DR fatigue and honestly i haven't been home all week and my parents are coming this weekend and DH and I NEED to clean the house! He told me last night he did few things and I expected to see this big difference when i came in. . . not so much! So I think that me staying home and orgainizing this will be better. ;)

Well, back to work!
Take care!

Ok so I am wayyyyy new to this thread. I hope no one is offended that I don't know anyone's names etc. But I have some questions and thought you all might be able to help.

I had surgery last September to remove dermoid cysts from both of my ovaries. The Dr was able to remove both cysts without having to remove any ovaries or anything like that. She said that everything should be fine as far as having children. The only thing that she said might be questionable was the proper functioning of one of the oavaries as it was VERY large so it had become very thin.

It is now over a year later. My periods are regular and I stopped taking my birth control pills 5 months ago. every month I hope and pray but so far no preganancy. Am I expecting this to happen too quickly?

I have since moved to another state and have a new Dr. She listened to everything I had to say and reviewed my old records. She agrees with what the old Dr. said. I haven't been back to her since I stopped taking the pills. She told me to try for a few months and start taking my prenatal vitamins just in case something should happen, and that if anything hadn't happened in a few months to come back and we could discuss possibly doing Clomid or something along those lines. I DO plan on going back to see her but in the meantime I just thought I'd see what you girls have to say, since you are trying as well.

I have a calendar with my ovulation time on it and we try to amp it up during that time. As of today I am 3 days late on my period but took a pregnancy test and it came out negative.

I guess I am just getting disheartened.....

Alex was a pirate pirate: who also carried a set of Handy Manny tools :upsidedow

I have never tried Pre-Seed. Can anyone explain what it is for? Some kind of lubricant?

Hi Angelhalo. From what I have heard/read, it sounds like your docs are probably right, assuming you are not in a high-risk group for another reason (ie, age, thyroid, etc). Then they should be concerned a little sooner about not getting pg and start testing sooner. But under normal circumstances, a year of TTC is considered *normal*.

I had ovarian cysts removed when I was 19, but I don't recall what kind they were. No problems getting pg the first time, and just about ready to start the 2nd time. Good luck to you!

Hi ladies! I'm new to your group, but hopefully won't be here long. :) DH and I have been TTC for the past year with no luck. I have really irregular periods (only 7 random months out of 12) so it is hard for us to know when I am ovulating. My ob/gyn ordered some blood work and I am getting a pelvic ultrasound to look at my ovaries next week. I'm not really sure what the next step is and I'm really nervous and anxious about the whole process. I look forward to getting to know everyone and wish lots of baby dust to everyone!

Preseed is sperm friendly lubricant/fake EWCM from what I understand. I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Angelhalo,
Do you take you temps and know when you are ovulating for sure?
Has the doctor done the basic hormone level tests?

Nice to meet new people, hope you aren't here long...nothing personal...LOL

Hi

Disney appears to be doing better lately. Eating and acting "normal" so I am enjoying her as much as possible.

E - So glad that you have a "military plan" for moving forward and that the doc is being agressive. That's a good sign. So sorry that the HSG was so bad for you though. Sure hope you had a drink afterwards.

Welcome new comers!

Okay, where does one get this preseed stuff? Any other OTC stuff you can recommmend???

So I finally got up the nerve to call my insurance company (BCBS HMO) about infertility coverage. The answers I got were kind of scattered.

First she said that the only exclusion was treatment related to IUI or IVF (which I knew). Then she said my ultrasound the other day would only be covered if it was coded "diagnostic." If it was coded "infertility" it wouldn't. :confused3

And my bloodwork (all 14 vials!) will be covered ONLY if it was sent to the lab that is in-network. Now, how do I have control over THAT? I am hoping that if my doctor is in-network, they use an appropriate lab, but who knows?

So, I kind of feel safe for now, but I guess I won't know until I get a bill (which I hope never happens!)

Anyway, it irritates me that they will help you find out if you're officially infertile, but once you have the diagnosis, they're done with you. Nice, real nice! :sad2:

heehee nothing personal taken.

So far my doctor hasn't done anything but tell me to give it a few months after stopping the pills. We haven't moved forward to any kind of tests yet. And while I am anxious for something to happen, I must admit that I haven't gone out of my way to do anything but know my general ovulation window. I haven't done the taking temps thing yet....

That so stinks! They could care less if you ever have children. Just sit there and suffer knowing you can't. :headache: Ugh!!!!!!

I found taking my temperature a necessary evil. I hated it but the doctor wanted me to do it so that he would have a better idea of when I ovulated. I used fertility friend online to chart the temps. It was all helpful but I did find myself quite stressed over it.

Oh, I really hated charting. I sleep in on weekends and it was irritating having to set my alarm to do it at 6am. And I felt like if I had to get up and go to the bathroom like at 4 or 5, it would mess up my chart.

I did it for about four months when we first started trying, just to see if I was ovulating. I haven't done it since-- since I know pretty much when it happens every month, I do the OPKs instead.

My ovulation did change quite significantly (from Day 16 to Day 8) when I was on Femara though!

Allison-my RE said no to any lubricant including preseed. Know what they said to use? Vegetable oil. Sounds icky, but no grosser than any other if you don't think about it.

Welcome to the newcomers...some of us, like KiKi Mouse and me, just hang around anyway! We try to help as we can!
