New to this - please help

I'm just trying to put together my first LO and it just looks wrong and I can't figure out why

Could some of the experts here please have give me some feedback and suggestions as to what I can do to improve it (if it needs chucking in the bin and starting again, please say so - I'd rather know).

I think it looks great, the way you angled the photos is cool. The only thing I might add is family name and when you went. Something smallish in the corner like The Johnson Family Disney World Trip, November 2006. Or you could do the name on the top and the date on the bottom in alternating corners. If you don't decide to put that info it looks great as is.

Personally I don't care for the angling. I would put dreams come true on the top and how above drawing lines to make it look like ballons/ Maybe add some stickes or even ribbons to seperate it. Just my opinion

I really like the layout! Personally I love the angle of the pictures, I do that pretty often in my own books. I just like something that looks a little different rather than straight pictures all the same. I do think some more embellishments, like a Disney sticker between the top two pictures and the bottom two, or more writing would be nice, but I think it looks great as-is!

What if you put the pictures a little straighter. Then put "Dreams" up towards the top between the Epcot and MGM pictures. "Come" would go right where it is. And "True" would go between the castle pic and the tree.
Maybe down the sides you could put in black letters "Smith Family" down 1 side and August 2000, what ever the dates are down the other side.

Great start. I would just suggest giving it a more finished look perhaps by mounting the photos on cardstock. I actually think it would look nice if you double matted them with colors that match the yellow and blue in the title. Also, the title is cool, but it blends with the black a wee bit too much. Perhaps you could either mount that or else change out the black.

I'm not sure if this was intentional or on accident, but I think it is clever that the pics are shaped like pillows and the title reads, "Dreams Do Come True." I know there is some clipart out there of Mickey, Goofy and Donald sleeping. That would make a cute accent in the corners.

I'm no expert, but I would mat the photos (maybe in red) so they don't blend with the Mickey paper.

My albums have all differnet styles jumbled up, and some pages are more successful than others, but that just makes the good ones look better! Its learning as you go that makes it fun to look back and see how far you've come!

As you can see each of us has are own ideas. That is part of what makes each scrapbook unique. If you don't like the layout then try the suggestions people have made and see which of them you like. I will say that the "c" in come does really blend into your black background and you might want to try to make it stand out a bit better.

The nice thing with scrapbooking is that we can all have our own opinions about what looks best but there isn't a right or wrong.

Well, thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I have actually changed it completely now - kept the pictures but used a completely different background and lettering. I've taken some pictures but my dumb computer isn't reading the flash card at the moment so I will try and post later. Meanwhile, I've made a start on page 2 - AND been shopping today for loads of bits

Other than matting your photos, I LOVE the layout. I may have to borrow your idea for the beginning of one of our albums. I have several more to do to get caught up on our trips and I try to make each one different. Great job.

It came with a scrap pack my husband bought me for Christmas. I believe he ordered it from www.happyscrapper.co.uk which is based here in the UK. It as a Magic Kingdom pack of punch outs, some of which are great.

Anyway, as I said before, I have changed my LO completely now. Not sure whether I prefer it or not but it's done now so too late I am still debating whether or not to put the month and year of our trip or whether to make the album more general Disney as I'm not sure I have enough stuff from our last trip to make a whole album.

I love that! Love the lettering - is it rub-ons?

You'd be surprised how many pages you can fill if you have some really big embellishments, or am picture which merits being on the page alone, or a LOT of journalling for one particular page.

I filled a 12x12 album with one 2-week Florida trip - I think I ended up with about 40 sides.
