Hi,
I am new to this site, and I am looking for information on doing a Disney trip next May with my family and my parents, to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I would like to do it relativly cheap but still lots of fun. Does anyone know of any good deals on room rates or ticket prices? Thanks a bunch, Beth2024.

Hi there and best of luck with your planning.
Do you have any idea of the amount you'd like to spend? It would be good to start with an amount and then alot of people would be able to help you to decide how the trip should be put together.

This site: www.mousesavers.com might help you get started.

Happy planning! :)

Since you have a bit of time, sit back and read the boards a bit. It may seem overwhelming, but some of the best Disney experts are here! :cheer2:

Have fun planning and make sure you ask any question you have. It may seem like a simple one, but there is no reason to stress over it!

Welcome to the DIS!!!!
As others have said....you have plenty of time so research by reading the posts on this site along with the tons of info on allearsnet.com and mousesaver.com.
We used Small World Vacations from mousesaver.com and they saved us $800.00 last year by changing our original AAA discount two times as better deals came out. Great service and wonderful people. They even made our priority seatings for us. No charge for their service. Check out their web site at WDWVacations.com.

How many people are in your family, how many rooms will you need? How old are your children, if you have them?

There are many ways to do Disney inexpensivly, staying off-site, in a no frills motel for $30/night, for example. We were lucky to get an e-mail code from DIsney, which is an email they randomly send out for room discounts. It is saving us about $150/night on our room. With the code you can get a value resort for May for $59/night (we are staying at the AKL and there are 5 of us). How we got the code we we registered for the Disney planning DVD in December, then in January or February, Disney sent out the codes. You need to register on the official Disney website, make sure you put you are staying off site, buying tickets when you arrive, and check the boxes that you want to recieve information about Disney. That will increase your chances. It also won't hurt to register under your name, your DH's name, your kids names, etc.

Your first step should be to decide when you want to go. Figure out when Easter is next year. If Easter is toward the end of April, go in the middle of May, less crowded. Then pick a resosrt. Once you decided on those, the rest will start falling into place.

Thank you all for all of the great info. We will be traveling the week of May 8th as our anniversary is on the 12th. My husband and I plus my parents and our 2 girls Shelby age 7 and Sarah age 4. We are looking to spend probalbly no more than $4000 for the entire trip including airfare and a rental car, less expensive would be great but this is my max. I'm looking into staying at one of the value resorts, I've never stayed in one of those and I hear that they are nice.

Thanks,

Beth

Are you including the cost for your parents in your $4000? If so, it is going to be tight! A non-discounted value will run about $100/night, you will need two rooms. Park tickets for the 6 of you will run close to $1200, that is the price for 6 park days, no park hopping, no extras. You could easily skip the rental car, saving you $100-200. With the MYW meal plan, food would be $160/day, which is really reasonable for 6 people at Disney. Plane tickets are going to run about $900+ or so. If your $4000 is just for your family of 4, it can be done easily.
