...I just have to say, after looking through some of the threads and the pages which people have been kind enough to share, I'm thinking perhaps I should have stuck to only quilting. I don't think that I'll ever be able to be as creative as anyone here. My pages are quite plain in comparison.

How do you all come up with such creative ideas?

Lots of people use sketches. I swap to get lots of great things. It is a matter of finding your style and what you like to use to tell the story. It is the memories that matter not how they are presented. Many people scraplift (copying someone elses idea) that is why we share are creations.

My name is Lisa, and I am a scraplifter. ;)

 Hi! I am AWM and I will be a scraplifter...someday...soon...I think.

You can actually use your quilting talents to your advantage. Like if you have a log cabin pattern you could cut it out of paper and pop it up over the corner of a picture for a home is where the heart is kind of page. You could use the wedding ring pattern for a circle layout out. I actually have 2 pages from quilts let me go snap some pics.

HAHAHAHA, that would mean you would have to actually scrap! :rotfl2:

Don't give up! I've been scrapping for 9-10 years, and my pages are still mostly very basic and fairly boring for the most part.

I agree with the others, if you see a LO you like, scraplift it!

here are my quilty pages:

the first one is of my Grandparents, it combined their favorite hobbies, Trains and Quilting. My DH came up with the idea:

the second one is the rings, they are a play on the Wedding ring quilt (I think this one was a Becky higgins sketch too)

Hello! Don't give up! I've been scrapping for years and still plain and simple - I say I scrap like an engineer not an artist. It is what it is. I'm having fun, and THAT's what's important to me!

Your style will evolve with time - and you can scrap lift not only layouts and quilts and advertising and packaging and CLOTHES even -

Wow, well thanks for all the input. Sorry it took me a bit to find this again...I forgot to "subscribe" to my own thread, go figure. LOL

The quilt ideas are great. Have been quilting for 15-16 years I think and have to admit, wouldn't have thought of using that as an idea. Thank you! Your pages are beautiful.

It's funny, I open up the book to work on it, and then I end up adding more to a page that I "already finished". Might take me years to get this first one done...not to mention I have a ton of pictures. It's our 25th wedding anniversary cruise to Alaska -- where we even did vow renewals. Will probably "lift" your idea on the wedding pages. Thanks again. :goodvibes

Another question. How do you all get the beautiful hand-writing? Using your computer and a font on the special acid free paper?

Ok, the old lady here with more advice. . . Please don't think you have to scrapbook EVERY photo! I recommend looking at a couple back issues or the website of Simple scrapbooks magazine. http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/content/viewmagazine/8/63/

The website is SO not user friendly, but there's a really handy album planner sheet available for download, and lots of other articles that may help you.

I've done about oh- 50ish 12 x 12 albums, many of them with TONS of photos and they sit on a shelf and take up space because they're
A- too heavy and
B-too overwhelmingly stuffed for anyone to volunteer to look at!

Recently, i've been doing many more small "event" size albums with just the highlights, and keep the rest of the photos on my computer showing on the screen saver, or prints in photo albums with pockets. My first cruise took 2 40 page albums - this last one, I did a 6x6 - of highlights - everybody who comes in the house picks it up to look at.

Anyway, which ever way you choose, it's worth taking a peek at SS.

Have fun!

I mostly use fonts from the computer, you can find tons of them for free.
I also have a Cricut which is a Die cut machine, they have cartridges with different fonts.
You can also use rub ons too.

Okay, but what about the ink from your printer. I was told we need to use the special markers, so I hesitate to use the standard ink in a printer. Yes, we can print on the special paper.....

Welcome to your new addiction. :rotfl:

I am a simple scrapper too. I like tons of photos and not so much other stuff. I just completed a trip album 12x12 with about 40 pages in it. and half the pages are just collages of pictures from the different days. doesnt help that DH has to take 50 shots of the same thing. :confused3

I'm with the other ladies, look around and find what works for you. Also if you have a LSS see if they have a Scrapbook 101 type class. with the basics. those are always good to get ideas from and learn a few techniques.

Okay....what is "LSS"?

Okay....what is "LSS"?

Local Scrapbook Store

Can be individually owned or a smaller chain like Cord Camera's Scrapbook Studio, I think they have less than 10 stores. Anything else is considered a chain - ACMoore, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, Michaels, Archivers. On-line is just considered on-line.

Okay, have another question. Should I be looking into asking "Santa" for the Sissex or the Cricut for Christmas. I figure I only need to go one way or the other.

Any input would be appreciated.
