Wewjust booked POR for 4 days. have not stayed there before wondering if anyone had recommendations about the resort. Activities at resort, etc

you'll love it...pools are fun, boat to DTD, Bob in the bar at nite is a ball...he's quite entertaining. Food court is excellent with loads of variety for br/lun/dinner. Bus service to and from parks is good.

POR is a favorite resort for my family. Very peaceful surroundings.

have fun

My favorite thing about POR is the boatride to Downtown Disney right from the resort. It's great. You get to pass by the old tree houses and at night pulling into the DD area with all the lights is awesome. You can also rent a water mouse or pontoon, motor boats etc right from the resort. Very cool.
I love the landscaping too. Very heavily wooded and planted and lots of little running brooks throughout the area. The large walking bridge that connects to the main house is very nice too. Great place to hang out and watch the fish and birds. We've actually seen otters from the bridge which people still tell us was our imaginations lol.
The pool bar is nice. Try the frozen drinks if you partake. Yummy. My favorite was the Scarlett O'Hara.
The piano bar is a blast. If you like singalongs and audience particpation, you'll have a great time there.
I'm one of the few who aren't so impressed with Boatwrights but that's not to say you wont enjoy it. Lots of people do.
POR is my favorite resort to stay at. I'm sure you'll love it. Feel free to ask any specific questions if you think of them. Have a great time. - Nancy

How much is it to rent a water mouse? Bikes? Do they rent bikes for kids (with training wheels)?

We loved POR also. We just got back Feb 2nd. We were in the AB section near the river. We enjoyed watching the ducks in the morning. We liked the pool bar also. My favorite thing to do was the boatride to downtown. As far as Boatwrights we loved the breakfast better than the dinner. My husband loved the bananastuffed french toast so much we cancelled 2 breakfast buffets so he could have it. They were kind enough to give me the recipe so we could make it at home. I have made it once since we returned it is very simple. The dinner best item was the prime rib. I would not get the buttermilk fried chicken it was burnt when they brought it to us, but we do not gripe much so we did not say anything. You have lots of scenery to take beautiful pictures. I got a sunrise shot near the wheel of the dining area it was amazing. Have fun you will enjoy POR.

Thanks for the ideas. Any thoughts where I may want to request which building to stay??

I love POR. It's my favorite resort!
The two sections are very different, so you'll want to check out a map and pictures to decide which one works best for you. I like the plantations best, but it's all a matter of personal preference.
We love the pool area and the boat to DTD. The grounds are beautiful!

I have not stayed in Alligator Bayou, but did stay in Partrere Place twice. This building and Oak Manor are just across the river from the lobby, restaurant etc. via a bridge. In between these two buildings on the Oak Manor side is a quiet pool with a small laundramat. My wife and I always wash clothes the day before we leave and have a few drinks while the kids swim. Works out great for us. Usually no one is at that pool.:thumbsup2

We stayed in Alligator Bayou, building 34, rooms 3401 3402...beautiful! It was also the first stop for the buses! :)

In December, we stayed in building 28 and it was less convenient than 34.

Good luck!

Thanks for this thread! We're staying at the POR for the first time in April and I can't wait!!! I keep scouring the boards for pics and it's getting me so excited! :cheer2: I'm really looking forward to coming back to the lovely grounds and Ol' man island for mid-afternoon dips. My kiddo is going to love it! -ducky

We've stayed there our last 4 trips and will be there again in September. We are a family of 5 so it is the least expensive way to go. We love it. I prefer Alligator Bayou as opposed to the mansions, it just seems less formal. Our building preference is building 14 or 15 - close to the food court, not too far to the main pool, very close to a quiet pool and just cut across the parking lot to the south bus depot (which is the first stop - so you'll most likely always get a seat). Buses can be crowded depending on when we go, but we've had no issues with it - but I have seen a lot of complaints on here. I always request a first floor - makes it easier with the kids - especially with a stroller. Our September trip will be the first no stroller trip in over 9 years!
