New to Magic Bands

I'm sorry...I'm truly confused. If you don't use the MB, do you not have to wait in the line then (using the MDE app or something)? I'm so confused with the new system

You have to use the kiosks for a 4th, 5th, etc FP+ whether you use a MagicBand or a plastic card.

Stacynak, I know, it can be confusing. If you have a MB, then you picked your three FP+ selections beforehand. After you've used them, you're eligible for another that must be selected at a FP+ kiosk in the park (and that doesn't have to be the same park your others were in). But you do have to stand in line. The additional ones aren't available via the MDE app. Keep in mind that to get an additional FP+ at a different park, you have to hop to that park first and make your selection from a kiosk there.

People who buy single-day tickets ONLY have the kiosks to make their selections from what's left in the pool after the MB resort people made their advance selections. Hence the lines in the front part of the parks. I've heard that lines are shorter at kiosks further in though.

I hope this helps...

Not always true. I help guests all the time who didn't pre-book FastPass+ reservations, despite having MagicBands. Usually the situation is that they got the MagicBand for a resort stay, but bought their tickets from a third party rather than in a package - usually at a discount like from Undercover Tourist, TicketsAtWork, etc - and didn't know they could link the tickets to MDE using the will call number.

People who show up at the gate and buy single-day tickets are able to make their initial three FP+ reservations via the app if they choose to link those tickets. It is true that they're still just choosing from what's left.

The bottom line: Whether you have a MagicBand or not, you can book your initial three FastPass+ reservations via the app (if you choose to do so), but you have to go to a kiosk to book any additional ones.

That is an awesome explanation! Thank you

Magic Bands are great! You simply put the Mickey symbol to the machine and it opens your room, pays for things, and holds your photos, and most importantly give you three fast passes a day. You can download the MY DISNEY APP and check wait times and pick your rides. Have a magical time!

Magic Bands have nothing to do with making or using FP - they're just a means to access what's in your MDE account. And by the way, the app is called My Disney Experience, not just My Disney.

This will be our first experience with MB as well. Please tell me that a PIN is required for purchases?!? Or a signature? I am just not sure I'd want our CC attached to the band if it is truly as simple as it sounds. With the old Magic Cards you had to sign...

Yes, you have to enter a PIN to sign the purchase.
It's very convenient. Just keep track of your spending with the receipts.
Otherwise you could be in for a shock at the end of your trip !

As already stated, a PIN is required even if you link the CC to the MB. Personally, I don't like to link the CC to the MB. It's far to easy to "Scan" (add PIN) and go and not even pay attention to the amount. At least with the CC, it seems (at least to me) that I have a better chance to realize what I am spending. Also since I don't use a single credit card with an enormous limit rather several different cards (with different benefits) with smaller limits, I have to keep track of which ones I am using and where I am relative to the limit (and interest charges) so it helps me keep things more accountable. That's me, of course your mileage may vary.

The worst part of magic bands for me is waiting in line for another FP. Yes, you get to plan out your first three FP for that day but once those get used up, you have to wait in yet another line just to get one more FP. I really hope they fix this soon.
If you have the app you can get another fastpass from that right? I mean without standing in line.
