We just purchased resale at SSR. Our first stay will be in September. I have a few questions.

Is there a discount on park tickets?
Is there a discount on the dining plan?
We are on a wait list for 2 resorts, what is the chances of getting one of them?

Any info that you think is important or good to know would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

The only discount is on APs, no discount on the dining plan.
Wait list depends on where you are trying to get and what unit size.
Welcome Home!!!

Discount on APs may depend on the date of your resale contract relative to the 4/4/2016 changes concerning Member Benefits. If your points are considered 'qualified' there are discounts on 3 forms of WDW Annual Pass: Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus. There is also a pre-negotiated rate for various levels of the Dining Plan.

Your chance of getting your September waitlists depends on which resort you've targeted and the unit size. Studios are "most popular," 1BR units are far less popular and, thus, easier to book. Do NOT count on always booking the least expensive room size or view type at any given property.

What dates in Sept?
From mid-Sept through mid-Jan is the highest demand time of the year for DVC. With EPCOT F&W, MNSSHP, holiday decorations, MVMCP, marathons, and other holiday things going on most people book at 11 months out and "see" if they can change resorts at 7 months.

The AP is a great deal if you will go to the parks more than 9 or 10 days within a 365 day period. Do you know when you will go in 2017? If it less than 365 days from the first day of your Sept 2016 visit, it may be worth considering the AP.

For dining, DVC members can purchase the Tables In Wonderland (TIW) card for $150.00. It provides a 20% discount on most table service restaurants, and the discount includes alcohol. For many DVC members who visit frequently, it is a nice option which gives you much more flexibility in your dining than the dining plans. Keep in mind that you will need to spend a minimum of $750 just to recover the cost of your initial investment. Also remember that there are DVC dining discounts which may work well for you. You can find those discounts on the member website.

One other thing to consider, as a DVC member, is the Owner's Locker (OL). This is a large rubbermaid container that you can fill with all the things you need to make your WDW/DVC vacation feel like home. DVC members get a discount on the activation fee through a link on the member website. Check out the website for more information.

Have fun with your DVC and Welcome Home!! :thumbsup2

While you are asking about Discounts, and although you didn't explicitly ask - when at WDW, Always, Always, ALWAYS politely ask the check out person if they offer a discount for DVC. MANY retail establishments in WDW do (although not all). They require your DVC membership card and photo ID, so make sure you have those things with you.
