new to DVC....few questions..

Just passed ROFR Sept UY. SSR have questions, please forgive my 'learning curve'

1) If we want to vacation Aug 30 - Sept 7,2011, it is my understanding is that I have to borrow from 2011 point allotment for the 2 days in August. Is this correct ? The remaining points are applied as usual from 2011 points available..?..

2) We will be 5 in total ( me, 2 sons, Grandpa& Grandma).. Are there 1 bedrooms that would work? (besides BLT and AK) ?

3) If no, is it possible to score 2 standard studios at BWV or AK with the 7 month booking window (non home resort)?

I'm looking to do it with least amt. of points..any suggestions? For G&G am looking to stay at preferably BW,AK, or BLT

am a pro at booking regular Disney trips, this is all new..help? please, some kind person.

I will help with what I can. The points thing always confuses me so I will defer to the experts who will most certainly come along. As for 5 in one bedroom, OKW, BLT, and AK kidani. I have seen some say you can put 5 in all one bedrooms but no linens provided, not 100% sure. Those 3 resorts have the sleeper chair and BLT and AK have 2 baths. As for the standard studios at the 7 month window, I would give you a better shot at AK over BWV. Studios always are popular, you can always try. Book at your home resort and wait list. BWV standard view is very popular. Welcome home!

Yes, correct. August 30 & 31 fall within the 2010 use year, so if you want to use 2011 points for those two days, they would have to be borrowed. MS will do this for you when you call to make the reservation.

You can add OKW to the list. The rehab there should be done by next August and so the 1 & 2 bedrooms at OKW will have a sleep chair in addition to the sleep sofa and king bed in the bedroom. But OKW has only one bathroom and BLT & AKV have two. That's a big advantage.

MS will take a reservation for 5 for the other DVC resorts, but you will be on your own to provide a bed and linens for the 5th person. Also, those 1 bedrooms will be smaller in size and only have one bathroom.

Possible, but not very probable. You might consider a 2 bedroom as one unit at 7 months will be easier to get than two. OKW 2 bedrooms are very roomy and an AKV value 2 bedroom or BW SV 2 bedroom would work well for your party, too. Again, BWV SV & AKV value may be tough to get at 7 months, but that time of the year is one of the easier times to book the bargain-priced villas.

You should be able to get something at any of those at 7 months for your time frame (but SV at the BWV is not as likely as Pool/Garden).

I'd go with the one bedroom standard view at AKV (Kidani) considering both points and comfort. MS will not allow 5 in a value 1 bedroom at AKV (Jambo) and it would be very tight anyway.

Do you have any points in the 2010 UY or was it a stripped contract? If you have points left then you can use them for the Aug days and if you bank the rest you can use them for some of the other days. You have until the end of April to bank your 2010 points if you have any so once you have closed you can try to make your reservation at your home resort or wait until Feb to try for other resorts.
