Hello- I have somehow been voted by my entire extended family to plan a reunion trip Disney and I know nothing about Disney! Where do I start?

First of all WELCOME!

There is nothing like a Disney Vacation and a family reunion just makes it better.

As for starting places, my advice would be in this order:

1. Decide when you want to go
2. Decide where you wan to stay.

I would look through these boards (theme parks, resorts, etc) to see others questions and post some of your own. Definitely get a planning book from your library or book store. I personally like the unofficial guide but there are many.

With a large crowd it may be hard to find a time that works for everyone. I am trying to plan one for my extended family. There will be 14 of us (4 families) and everyone wanted to go a different time of year.

Once you get what time of year you want, then you can start looking at resorts and seeing where everyone would like to stay.

Good luck and enjoy it. Planning is half the fun!

Thanks Kenny. We know when we want to go, in the Fall but I have no idea how to pick a resort! I just posted on the resort board, hopefully that will help!

I highly recommend that you pick up The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World if you don't know anything about Disney. It is the best Disney travel guide out there and all the reviews and info are in one place.

:welcome: I also recommend the Unofficial guide. Also there is one called Passporters which has extensive planning helps with forms to fill out and checklists etc. which you may find helpful. The Disney website is also a good place to go as well as allears.net and the mom's panel (on the disney website). It's good you are starting now. Plus, I don't think you can ask a question that can't be answered by a dis member! :thumbsup2 Good luck and have fun with it!:cheer2::jumping1:

I've never used the Unofficial Guide, but lots of people here like it. I used the Birnbaum guide and I occasionaly will buy one now. The children like to thumb through the pages and look at pictures. Good luck!

And WELCOME!!

Welcome and How much fun!!! I am a little jealous - I would love to plan a WDW vacation for my extended family.

Iam not nearly as experience as many here but if you have not already, request the Disney planning cd --- just gives you something to let the family also look at. they do give you some info for "magical gatherings"

Not that I have planned for such a large group, but when I am working on plans for my family, I already have an idea of what they like so I narrow things down a lot...like I will check out all the hotels, then offer one at each price level, maybe two at the moderate level.

start with hotels & date ranges, and have an idea of what the groups budget s, then when you get the big where & when questions answered, the real fun begins.

Oh start a pre trip report -- I will follow. it sounds like fun!popcorn::

First of all: :welcome:

You can look at unofficial guides, buy books, or even gain knowledge on Disney by reading posts here on the DIS..:thumbsup2
