I'm passing this on from a post in the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board.

I just started Chemotherapy (hopefully short stint) and we are taking our 7 year old and our 3 year niece to WDW, wanted to know if anyone had a AAA Diamond parking pass to spare? It helps a bit with getting to the car.

Can anyone help?

Here's what the others have said:

I don't have a parking pass. I'd certainly send it your way if I did. I went to WDW while taking chemo and had a very nice time. I was given a GAC (Guest Assistance Card) by a wonderful CM at EPCOT. I suggest you visit the disABILITIES! Board for more information on making your vacation as smooth as possible.

When is your trip? Some one on this board was supposed to send me their AAA pass for my trip next week. The pass is only good until the end of the month. If your trip is prior to the end of the month, I will gladly mail it to you instead. Let me know. We leave saturday 12/9. If I get it prior friday and you can use it I will mail it, just let me know.

Can you ask your doctor for a temporary handicap permit? I would certainly think you qualify for that.

If you cannot get a temporary Hindicap tag, what is actually better than Diamond Parking is to talk to the person directing traffic from the main aisle to the row to park in. Explain there is a medical problem but that you don't have a tag. There are special parking spaces, marked "Reserved" at the beginning of each row. In that circumstance the parker will often move the blocking cone and have you park in that space and you will be right at the Tram pickup.

In most of the parks the AAA Diamond Parking is further from the entrance than handicap parking, and there is no Tram service or wheelchairs available.

Thanks for the heads up.

I agree with Cheshire Figment about the parking. She will actually have the shortest distance to walk by using the regular parking lot and the tram service. There are no trams for the AAA lot or the handicapped parking lot.

If she gets a handicapped parking permit, there are wheelchairs in the handicapped parking area that you can use to get from the handicapped parking to the place where wheelchairs and ECVs can be rented. There are sometimes no wheelchairs there though.

If you check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is a section about GACs (Guest Assistance Cards).
