DH and I are not DVC members, but are thinking of renting DVC points for our trip in October 2008. But I have a few questions regarding the Villas themselves.

Our vacation next year will consist of 4 people - DH and myself, our DS who will be 6 at that time, and my mom. I would like DS and my mom to have separate beds, but I don't see how that can be done without renting a two bedroom villa . Can anyone help me?

I can only think of three options right now.

1. A two bedroom is the only way to get 4 seperate beds and be together.
2. Get two studios, but then you are not together in the same room.
3. Probably best to get a one bedroom and bring an inflatable mattress. You still have only 4 people in the room so no rules are broken, and there would be room to put the inflatable.

Well, you are right that the 2 bedroom is the only real solution, but as vandy said you can go with 2 studios... do you want to make your own meals? If so, studios are out. If not, this is a real good selection... DS and Grandmom stay in one, and you & DH stay in the other. At age 6 the maintenance level is minimal and DS and GM both would probably enjoy some quality time.

Talk to GM and get her feelings on the matter.

Rent a 1 bedroom at the AKV's, they have 1 king, a pull out couch and a pull out chair. The chair should be big enough for a 6 yr old. I think all but the "value" 1 bedrooms at the AKV's have the extra pull out chair.

A 1 bedroom at OKW would give you the master bedroom with room for a single air bed for the 6 year old next to the king bed or have him sleep on the love seat and grandma on the pull out sofa. The love seat would make a bed for a child. You may have to bring a light blanket or a child size sleeping bag for him. We haved also made a bed on the floor out of the cushions on the sofa and love seat from the old sty[e ones but don't know if this would work with the new style. the pix is of the OKW old style sofa and love seat. l think there are small air beds for young children that might work well for you- I have seen them at Walmart. Some people put them in the laundry room so the child has his/her own room. We use a corner of the room at OKW or as I said spance next to the king bed.

As far as asking GM...We're actually going to surprise my mom with this trip. She hasn't been to WDW since 1993, so asking for her opinion would ruin the surprise.

We have done youngsters on the sofa cushions on the floor, or they might be comfortable using the love seat as is for a bed. The good thing about that is that they can be close to Grandma! If Grandma wants some privacy, bring the cushions into the laundry room (yes, OKW has a full sized laundry room in the 1 bedroom unit), and he will have his own little bedroom. I just think hauling an airbed is not necessary if you are at OKW.

We're in East Patchogue. I looked in the JCPenny sale catalog and saw the beds there, but it's the foot pump. I also work in Bohemia and there is a Khol's in Ronkonkoma (about 15 minutes away). I'll go this week on my lunch break to check it out. Thanks!

Thanks and the points are pretty low there as well according to the book we borrowed from DH's co-worker.

Here's another question for all you DVC Know-Hows. DH and I are wondering what is included in these points? Taxes, park tickets (we're assuming tickets are not included), etc? Thanks

renting a reservation (i.e. "renting points") gets you a room, including taxes. you have the option to notify the DVC member to add magical express from the airport for free (as with any onsite stay) or add the dining plan for a cost (and pay at the resort.) but you are correct that tickets are not included.
