New Tickets and finger prints

Does this apply to tickets purchased from TicketMania or other on line ticket sellers?

Yes..... we bought our tickets from FloridaOrlandotickets.com and it worked for out tickets. As I posted on my other post.... We tried it out - my DD used my ticket and I used hers (a couple of days after we had already been going in an out of the parks and using the finger scans)

This makes me laugh. It reminds me of when we met my SIL at the park-She had a resident pass and they wanted to scan her finger. Well she is a germaphobe-would not put her finger in- they pressured(did not offer the id thing to her) She finally used some purell on the scanner and then immediatly on her fingers after the scan. If you could have seen the looks on the CM's faces as she was explaining why she didn't want to do it

We were just at Disney for the first time last week. I had bought the MYW tickets. By the end of the week, I would tense up just looking at the scanners. EVERY time I would try to stick my fingers into teh machine, my card would get kicked out. I absolutely hated them.

I am left handed and have no strength or coordination in my right hand, they kept telling me to use my right hand. In all honesty, this part of the trip I do not miss. After paying over $1000 in park hopper passes, I shouldn't have to fight to enter a park.

they need to go the route of Universal and just put your pic on your pass.

We were at Universal in Feb w/5 day passes. We did not have our pictures on our passes. Maybe on an AP? But I have never heard of anyone saying they got their picture on a Universal pass.

Universal AP's do have your photo on them.

it doesn't matter where the tickets come from. the first time you scan them, your bio's are captured and stored. we went to AK yesterday, when my AP was in the machine, it cleared me before I even had both of my fingers on the scanner. the lines at the entrances have been horrible since MYW. they need to go the route of Universal and just put your pic on your pass.

They use to put pictures on the passes. Now they use superior technolgy and it is really not that big of a deal. It doesn't take that much longer to get in the parks. Also with the photo identification it was very easy to use someone elses pass. The new system makes this nearly impossible.

I know someone stated in a previous post that as long as you purchase all your non-expiry tickets together, then if someone from your original party doesn't go the next time, you can still use their remaining days. Someone also stated that they switched tickets with others in the party and used them.

However, Disney's web site explicitly states that the tickets are non-transferrable and can only be used by the person who used the ticket.

I'm just asking as we plan on taking my mother on this trip, and figured if she never went back, we would have the extra day or two to use on a future trip. I just don't want get stuck paying for a 7 day pass for her, use only 5 days, and then lose the remaining two. Maybe I will just buy a 5 day pass.

Unless I'm missing something, the grouping of the biometric scan data is more of a convenience thing; a family of 5 doesn't need to sort through the passes and make sure that they are each using their own. In other words, if mom inserts dad's pass and uses the finger scan, it will still permit entry because the scans are somehow linked together.

However, if the scan fails, you need to provide a photo ID which matches the name on one of the passes in your group. I'm not convinced that Disney would let you enter with a pass signed "Mrs. Smith" if you are "Mr. Smith" or "Mrs. Jones." That seems to defeat the intended purpose of the system.
