New Ticket Options--would this work?

I was thinking about the new ticket options, and I had an idea. Since it only costs a few dollars to add another day to most multi-day park tickets, why not just buy a longer ticket instead of paying for the hopper option?

Instead of buying a 5 day pass with the hopper option ($228) why not just buy a 7 or 10 day ticket? ($199 or $209). It would only save a few dollars, but it's something.

Do you think that would work for admission? My thinking is that if you did hop during the day, they would just deduct another days admission from your ticket. You may use 2 days worth of admission in one day, but it's still a little cheaper than buying the hopper option.

I wonder if that would work...

Nope. Disney has thought of this. It is stated you will not be allowed admission even if you give up another day.

Sorry.

Not that I doubt you (I suspect you are entirely correct) but where is it stated? I haven't found this in (electronic) writing yet...

There are pages and pages of description of this on the website for Travel Agents only. Unfortunately, I therefor, can't post the link but am certain of my answer. I did also call to confirm that it was a rule they intended to enforce, as a client of mine had the same thought.

Great! Thanks Sandy! Knowing the source is good enough for me.

Can I trouble you with one more question? Can you add any options to the base ticket after you have started using it but before it expires?

Options can be added at any time but the price is based on the original ticket. This really only matters on the no expiration. For example, I buy a 7 day pass. Due to bad weather we leave after 4 days. When I change to "no expiration" I pay that for 7 days not the remaining 3.

Hopper option is a flat fee regardless of days.

Good luck
Sandy

Thanks for the info--I'm not surprised they've already closed this loophole!

Excellent!

but the price is based on the original ticket

that's not really a problem, as I'd make the decision based on how many unused days I had left. For example, suppose I bought a 7-day+hopper. At the end of my vacation, if I had only one day left, I'd *not* protect it---$55 is too steep. If I had *two* left, I would; that's $27/day.

So if you happen to have extra days left on your ticket at the end of your trip you can add the no expiration option? That would be good.

That's correct but as the OP pointed out....sometimes it wouldn't be worth it, 1 day left on a 7 day pass would cost $55. In some cases though, it would be worth it.

That's good to know! I hope it actually works that way. It would be great to be able to purchase a 10 day pass and if something happens like weather, illness etc. you can take those days home with you by purchasing the no exp. option.

Very useful information, InstImpres! Thanks!

This is an unrelated question, but I'm wondering if you know what the wholesale price of the current 7+4 park hopper is? I'm thinking of trading one in on a PAP, but don't know what it's worth, since I didn't buy it directly from Disney.

I am staying at BWV for 7 days and I only wanted to but a 5 day pass bc I knew we'd be doing other activities the other days (golfing, waterparks, surfing, DTD, etc.) and wouldn't be going to the parks. After reading about these new tickets I'd really want to buy the base ticket for 5 days with the hop option and the meals option. Does anyone know if I'd be able to do this for only 5 days since I'll be there for 7??

Sorry, the meal option is considered a package and must equal the length of stay based on my conversation of earlier. Also, if you are DVC (I am guessing by the BWV) the meal option won't be available to you as you must book it with your room.

Is it possible to buy a AP or PAP and still do the dining option?

Sorry, dining is only available in combination with a room booking and ticket purchase.

Sandy

Do you know if you can add the dining option to an already-booked Dream Maker package? Or how one would convert a Dream Maker package to a new package? We booked the Canadian At-Par package, but that dining option looks really interesting.

M.

And, can you purchase the packages even after you have already made reservations at the "Value Season" rate? Will the room price go up then? Will I only have the option of buying passes and adding on "hopper" and "plus"?

Cheapest I've seen a 7+4 is $317, so you can probably count on at least that amount

Dream maker packages are being honored (and can still be booked) through 2005. If you have a dream maker booked for travel after 1.2.05, you must wait until than and have your TA convert it to a MYW package if you want the new services.

If you don't have anything booked, they are telling TA's to make room only reservations and add the package after 1.2.05

If you have a room only ressie and only want the passes, that is not a package than and should have no effect on room rates.

If anyone is confused individually PM me with you travel details and I can give you more specific guidance.

Happy travels
Sandy
