New Thrill Rides at Hollywood Studios

Well, I have some news and I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that it's true! We went to the World in Dec. on our annual family trip, and while we were on our way to MK, our bus driver announced that Disney is planning on adding 5 new thrill rides at the Hollywood Studios over the next 10 years!
I really hope this is accurate info, I think this would attract more people to Disney. Has anyone heard anything like this?

I have not heard anything about this BUT..I think it would be a great idea!

My fiance loves WDW but he always says he wishes disney would open another park with all thrill rides!!!! It wouldnt be a bad thing and Im sure people would welcome more thrill rides at the parks

I also found it strange that he would say something like that, but I do belive that cast members do have inside info before it gets out to the public. I just expected to see it here first, or at allearsnet.
I found out about the DVC at the Contemporary in June of last year b/c of a cast member. I remember asking like 10 people and no one would tell me anything, and now all cast members are confirming it.

Bus drivers are notorious liars. One told us once that Disney was about to build a new monorail line that was to go directly thru the Swan and Dolphin, and then announced to the riders that a sports-themed park was on its way.

In other words, don't believe. Though I suppose over the course of the next few decades there will additional rides at the Studios

the only thing i'm aware of that i have faith in is a ratatouille themed coaster in soundstage 1 based on the crush coaster at DLP which is supposed to be fast tracked (i.e., started on within the next couple of months if not already)

I remember before 9/11 hearing a lot of rumors about Disney strongly considering building a 5th park (they certainly have the space!) focusing on thrill rides as a way to compete with the then new IOA. With the great drop in business after 9/11 (that really only in the last few years Disney has come out of in a big way) suddenly all talk of a 5th park went quiet. So, I think it would be great if they could put in 5 new attractions at DHS over the next 10 years -and not necessarily all thrill rides. I think DHS needs it more than any other park at WDW at the moment, but I think 5 new attractions in 10 years is hoping for a lot. That's one new attraction every 2 years. Given the amount of planning and development that each new attraction can take -especially a thrill ride like ToT, I think that's hoping for a bit much.

I guess we'll wait and see!

There has been a lot of RUMORS about new rides at DHS lately,but they're just that RUMORS.Bus Drivers and Cast members are obviously around the property where other cast members spread it!!Bus drivers don't have inside information!!
As far as what RUMORS are going around are the Ratatouille indoor coaster,closing the Indiana Jones show to make the Indy ride,a new version of Star Tours and an American Idol show in the ABC theater.Again ALL RUMORS but thinking there's going to be 5 thrill rides in the next 10 years,impossible!!5 or 6 attractions in 10 years with 2 or 3 being thrill rides yes, that's doable.Only attraction confirmed and close to being done is Toy Story Mania,not exactly a thrill ride.

IMHO, a Disney "thrill" park would only be as good as the "magic" and incredible attention to detail that is so great in all the other parks. Even if they were to add a whole bunch of new stuff to DHS, it would take a VERY long time to plan it so that it themes well. As with any attraction at ANY of the parks, thrill or not, it's appeal to me is in the theming and detail. We always love new rides, but if that's not top notch, it just doesn't happen for me. Primeval Whirl, case in point. (JMHO) I'd rather having ONE attraction every 3 years, but done excellently over 10 in a short time.

I agree. I think it's a "Vast Transportation Wing Conspiracy". Those naughty, naughty drivers...they know how to whip up the boards.

Won't ever happen. Would make no sense for Disney. Majority of Disney's guests are families. What would the little kids or adults who don't like thrill rides do? They tried going that route to an extent with California Adventure and it's failed miserably.

I keep telling my wife when I retire I want to be a boat captain or bus driver at wdw just for the story telling lol I mean "news". Maybe thats how they fool ya somes true, somes fake, just gotta wait and see.But it always sparks intrest.

I disagree. California Adventure had 1 rollercoaster and a few slightly thrilling rides in an area that was not hardly themed at all. DCA is getting a $1 Billion overhaul for a reason....it was never 'Disney' quality.

It has nothing to do with whether or not people enjoy thrill rides when they go to Disney, or else Everest, Rock'nRollercoaster and Tower of Terror wouldn't have the wait times they do every day.
