Well I feel silly, Its been so long I'm totally out of touch. I didn't even know they changed it :confused3:confused3 We booked our trip yesterday, and were watching videos on you tube, and my son (who's 7) said daddy that's a new test track. I said no its not. Boy was I wrong. Well I will report back after we ride it in the fall.

RIP test track. I was there the week prior, and opening day last year. It was a depressing Tron light show. Very little thought went into the line and new ride. Its just all neon lights. The line had MANY tough funnel and choke points when we were there.

We felt that it was completely ruined. Even the fast part feels less entertaining.

We went on it 3 times. I thought designing the car was fun and seeing how it ranked with other designs. I thought the ride was faster. I thought they did a good job in redesigning it!!:cool1:

Forgot to add we thought it felt slower and shorter. Could he that we rode it several days prior to opening day and it was buggy. But still, absolutely bummed about it. Some things you dont change.

Previous descriptions I read on the DIS of the updated Test Track led me to believe that the "tests" had been eliminated, resulting in the ride being just random movements with no relevance. I was not looking forward to the new Test Track because it sounded like they'd made it into a senseless mess.

Well, I stumbled across a YouTube video of the re-imagined Test Track today and I have to say, I'm a lot more optimistic. It appears that they haven't entirely gutted those elements.

The video showed that the tests are still presented in the narrative. And after seeing the video, I "get it." The new concept for the ride reflects that these tests are now done "virtually" through computer simulation (which in many instances reflects reality these days) and the rider has been transported into the computer during those simulations. Yes, there are some TRONish effects, but in the context of the computer testing of the virtual car design, it makes sense.

It will still be quite some time before I get to ride the new Test Track, but where I was previously dreading it, now I'm really looking forward to it.

We rode it last week and LOVED it! The design your car thing was a lot of fun and we loved the competitive element added to the track. :thumbsup2

Don't really care to be honest. I think the queue and design process is cool and think the post show is neat, but the actual ride is okay. For some odd reason, it seems a bit more thrilling (the indoor portion that is) but what's surrounding the track doesn't really make sense. That being said, I like it but am not dying to ride it again.

We'd been on the old Test Track plenty of times, but ended up liking the new one more! DH thought it felt faster, I thought it was about the same. But the beginning part - designing your car, was so much fun! I like how much more interactive it is now. We spent a full hour in the Test Track pavilion (got there first thing so didn't have a wait at all), just trying everything out.

I have yet to experience the new TT first hand, however after seeing the POV tour I am super bummed out. I used to love the original, which made you feel like you were in a real GM owned facility. This new version looks like all the original details based in reality where switched for neon lights and hot wheel concept car designs. Ill miss checking out all of the Snap-On brand tools that were displayed throughout the queue. Oh well!

The new test track is terrible!!! Bring back the old ride please. Fast pass now takes 30 mins!

General consensus between DH and I...we don't like it. We LOVE the design your own car part, but the ride it self feels like I've been put into a Tron movie, and I HATE Tron lol :rotfl2:

Some like it, some don't.

As for your last statement, may I submit Journey Into Your Imagination, Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management, and Stitch's Great Escape as just a few examples of widely reviled updates to original attractions.

TESTIFY, Mesaboy2!!! Amen to that!

We did not care for it. We first rode single rider to avoid the line, which skips the design the car part. That really pared it down to a Tron like car ride. Went back to see if designing the car made it a better overall experience, and while it was a little more interesting, I prefer the old one, and probably won't be riding it again.

We just experienced the new version, I wish we loved it, but the consensus in the family was we missed the older version. That being said, we enjoyed it and didn't hate it by any means, the desinging of the car was our favorite part of the refurb and it prompted some fun competition amongst our kids.

The ride itself seemed a little redundant, neon, dark, neon, dark, and dare I say a little 'budget' and lacking in detail. Just an opinion, please don't take offense if you like it. Ironically, we are TRON fans, so I thought we would really enjoy the new theme, but it seems like something is missing. Regardless, we will continue to ride it at least once each trip, if not for anything else but the tradition of riding it.

Happy day to you!:)
