Update from Dk not new vehicles
After Twitter user shawnathon33 shared first photos of an updated Test Track ride vehicle, we decided to head to the park and check it out. When we first arrived Test Track was down due to lightning in the area, but we did have the chance to chat with a Cast Member. He said not too many people have noticed it and also mentioned that this is a test run. They plan on doing further colors and various paint schemes down the road.
Below are some photos we captured from this evening. We want to emphasis the correction on our initial report: This is not a new Test Track ride vehicle, just an updated one. However, from the photos below, you can see that many parts of the vehicle have been replaced and refreshed. On the outside of this vehicle, they went with a unique blue paint scheme and a front grill design similar to that of the Chevy Volt (which we also took photos of). The Chevy logo can be found on the front and the back of the vehicle, which may prove the rumor that Test Track will be sponsored by "Chevy" specifically, rather than General Motors as a whole.
As for the inside of the vehicle, everything seems to be pretty new and fresh. I noticed that the monitors in many of the vehicles work quite well now and are rarely fuzzy like they previously were. As for this vehicle, the monitor was nearly the same and had no issues. Much of the plastic interior looked replaced, or at least shined. The speakers in the vehicle were very clear, but I'm not sure if they were replaced. The seat cushions were new, along with the belt and the yellow pull strap. The metal hand rails and such in the vehicle also appeared to be new, or at least painted. The grip-tape when stepping into the vehicle was also replaced (and very sharp! Scraped my leg a bit on it) The only thing on the vehicle that didn't seem refreshed was the windshield, which had many scratches in it.
Another aspect which isn't related to the looks of the vehicle is how well it rides. We previously rode minutes before getting into the newly updated vehicle. While on one of the old ones, I specifically made sure to feel how well it rode. Around many of the corners the vehicle would jerk a little bit - but not in the newly updated vehicle. I have no idea what they did internally to the vehicle, but it rode extremely smooth. There was no jerking around corners or anything (other than the sudden braking). And a bit unrelated to this... but it was nice to see the "flatten cones" up and working!
