Basically a $4 Surcharge has been added if you are picked up in the new location for ride shares in the parking garage.

Couple of key notes:
- they are building some kind of lounge up there for a better waiting experience
- Lyft has not added a Surcharge (yet)
- no Surcharge for being dropped off (just picked up)
- there is no Surcharge for being picked up at the hotels, so best to walk over to HRH or RPR and get one from there (as many do already for convenience)

I'm sure it is due to the wait time to get thru the traffic circle to actually pick up the passengers. We used Lyft/Uber in October and encountered one driver who marked himself "here" as soon as he got to the parking level, not when he actually picked us up and we got charged a wait fee which we protested. Due to the wait times, I can totally understand them adding the surcharge.

When using Uber/Lyft would you just type in universal studios as your drop off or is there an exact address to type in? The drivers know where to go in general once on property to get to where they should drop you off?

Personally, if I were taking an Uber/Lyft, I would set it to Hard Rock Hotel and walk over from there. Likely a shorter walk than from the parking garage and less line up for security check.

We just typed in Universal and our driver knew where he had to go. There was signage and frankly, I would think most Uber/Lyft drivers in the area are familiar with the process. I'd imagine its a frequent drop off and pick up point for them. We didn't find it to be a hassle getting dropped off at this spot, but we did opt to walk to Hard Rock Hotel for pickup on the way back. We found it to be just as far of a walk coming from Universal Studios, and there was no congestion or difficulty finding our car, or waiting for it either.
