New Summer Meal Offer!

What deal is this??
My wife was looking at a summer trip that we hadn't planned on and was just plugging in some dates last week. With the discount code for the first week of June, I believe, All Star Sports came up at $100/night. We also get tickets through her work which are the cheapest we can find.

I'd be incredibly heartbroken. Maybe it's just because they weren't as booked as they wanted to be during the summer?

I've seen rumors that one of the reasons for the summer meal promotion only at the Values is because with the summer Olympics being held in Brazil this year, many of the tour groups that usually come to Disney during July/August have not booked this year. The feeling was that they would be spending their time and money going to Olympic events. :confused3

Since dessert and drink are included, me, DW, DS13 and DS5 would get $68.66 worth of food for free at Casey's. That's 4 drinks, four fries, polish sausage, bbq slaw dog, corn dog nuggets x 2, cotton candy x 2 and cracker jack x 2. This would actually be a great deal for us because we tend to eat lunch (often off property) before going to a park anyway. This way our dinner would be paid for.

I'm excited about it. For a little bit more, we're getting an included meal a day and an extra park day. We weren't able to do the spring deal because my daughter has summer school this year. So as long as we were going in July anyway...

I, personally, am pretty excited for this offer. I already had my trip booked, adrs are made. Can anyone tell me how to change my reservation to include this offer without losing my adrs?
Also, if we're staying 7 nights will we get 7 nights worth of meals? In my email it said for a 5 night/4 day trip

This makes sense. They want to fill up the rooms and this is a great way to do it. I think the tour groups book value so that would have been a lot of empty rooms. Hopefully this is the reason and not that this will become the new free dining for the Fall. This may just be a trial to see how many people jump on this offer.

I don't think that the deal is for table service restaurants, just quick service that you don't need an ADR for.

Changing your reservation should not have any affect on your ADR's. However, like PP said this offer is only for ONE quick service meal per person per night (no snacks or refillable mug either). You will still have to pay for your TS meals out of pocket or upgrade to the DDP for a fee. You can do a fake booking online to figure out how much this offer will cost you compared to what you have now.

This would be FANTASTIC if its true!

I know it's just qs, I have 2 adrs for be our guest at breakfast and lunch. I just didnt know if i would lose out on my adrs if i needed to do a new booking. I ended up being able to do it right on Disney experience. It didn't change my cost at all, I even upgraded to a preferred room with the money I'm saving!

If that is the case...then I wouldn't be surprised if this is the beginning of phasing out "free dining." (At least for us Americans.) One QS meal a day is really not much on an incentive at all IMO.
Agree - we love FD because of the TS meals we get. We can eat for much less if we are paying OOP for QS

That, actually, makes a lot of sense! Especially since it's in Brazil!

I think this is a way for Disney to find out just how little they can offer and still get package bookings. It could also be the beginning of the end of FD. A way of weaning people off of it.

I certainly would not book a package just to get 1 meal/day. I can get a better discount from Orbitz. I currently have a great deal through Orbitz. I'm paying $103/night for a value room in March. Rack rate is $163/$197 per night.

I heard on a podcast (Dis Unplugged maybe?) that it could also be due to the declining exchange rate for Canadian and Australian dollars.
What they were discussing was that the offer covers most of the peak summer time....possibly due to the lack of Canadian/Aussie visitors

The offer is for Quick Service only. No ADR's for Quick Service.
