I'm not sure what you're asking for with your suggestion for the way to help. If you could be a bit more specific, I can look at making changes.
I know the new channels isn't convenient and it was nice having everything centrally, but it's going to help us in the long run.
YouTube will suggest videos based on watch time, views, and click-through rate on individual videos and channels. DIS Unplugged had A LOT of videos going up and a lot of people were able to find videos like the Tuesday show because it gets watched a lot and gets clicks. Something like Moving to Orlando or even Universal that maybe didn't get the same engagement and watch time for our channel would inevitably have a negative impact on the channel overall and cause YouTube to suggest our videos less which means even if you're subscribed, that doesn't mean that you'll see our videos front and center like you might've before. YouTube is happier when all of our videos perform closer to each other and that helps us grow.
By breaking down the channels, we are able to organize our content based on topics a lot better and allows us to get into micro nice content. DVC seems like it would go hand-in-hand with WDW, but DVC people really love DVC and they will be more interested in the nerdy topics that would probably get lost on DIS Unplugged. Same thing can be said about all of the channels we have broken off.
Ultimately, this is about growth for us and sometimes you have to step back to move forward. Way back in the day our shows were hosted on YouTube.com/WDWInfo and we made the decision to move them to DISUnplugged because we were producing more shows than ever before and our channel was a mess because it was so mixed between in-park videos and shows. It caused massive, rapid growth for that channel and our shows overall. However, due to the nature of our shows, we know that we are very helpful to people currently planning a trip vs. just straight entertainment like other vloggers so when people aren't planning they might not be watching as much and we need to reach new audiences who are planning and we can't reach new audiences if we have the issues describe above.
I know this is way more in depth and detailed than was ever asked for, but I'm hoping this will be a resource for people who are genuinely confused why we are seemingly spreading out our content and trying to make it harder to find what's new.
A very helpful resource for us right now is WDWInfo.com. If you're not used to visiting The DIS, we actually are constantly rotating out new videos on our home page so you barely have to do any work to find what is our newest content. I know that doesn't help if you want to go back and catch up, but if you want what's newest then that's a good place to go outside of YouTube.
