New Stroller Test at Animal Kingdom

I wouldn't want to be the kid stuck in the back seat of the double stroller - that sunshade blocks everything!

The Disney double strollers have always been side-by-side, not front-and-back.

I am not too surprised by this. They are losing out on stroller rentals to companies like kingdom strollers. We always bring our own stroller to have a better sunshade and under-stroller storage area. If this is rolled out to other parks by my trip on November 9, I will probably go for it.

The doubles in the linked article are front/back.

I wish they had these when we used to rent strollers! We got those terrible plastic ones that scorched our kids' legs. It wasn't cheap but it was nice to have the convenience of that length of stay deal.

The one on the bottom right is like the double that they now have at Disneyland to rent. Seeing a lot of people renting those and some big kids in them who look very uncomfortable. Does not look made to hold a kid older than about 3-4 in the back.

Disney seems to have a knack for seeing what is working for third-party vendors (airport shuttles, lyft/uber, etc.) and then cashing in (DME, Minnie Vans, etc.). I'm surprised it took them this long to realize their plastic strollers were the pits and most everyone was bringing or renting more comfortable models. I think it's a great idea!!

New Stroller Rental Test to Take Place at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Beginning June 25, the stroller rental location at Disney's Animal Kingdom will offer a small number of different single and double stroller models for families to enjoy. The new stroller models offer a variety of features including reclining seats and storage baskets.
The blue is my exact model and color.
Happy that my stroller will be allowed given the new stroller dimensions.
Kind of concerned that my stroller will be among the sea of very similar rentals.

Time to start working on a crazy coloured pom pom like cruisers do to identify their luggage in a football sized field of similar colored suitcases. :)

I think this is a smart choice, but I don’t think disney will be competing with the outside rental companies until onsite guests are able to rent for the length of their stay and use the stroller all around disney property.

i rented a stroller from an outside company and i loved having it in the room every morning to pack and prep for each day. that’s part of the convenience that disney is still missing to me.

They are going to be hard for Disney to keep clean, I would think.
That was my first thought too. We are passed the stroller stage, but I remember them getting pretty messy.
I'd hate to be the one to deal with cleaning them no matter how but suspect Disney already knows how to wash and sanitize the strollers just as the outside companies do. I mean why go further into the business if you don't know the basics?
The method will undoubtedly differ to some degree than the one used to clean the current plastic strollers.
I'm just happy that back to front strollers are now available.

Agree completely. I think it is smart for Disney to explore this path from a business perspective. However, for your reasons exactly, I still prefer to rent from an offsite company. I like having the stroller available for more than just inside the gates of the park.

My DS is a bit on the older side for a stroller this trip (it will probably be our last stroller trip), but we are still renting one primarily because we are staying at BLT and that walk to MK is really long, especially on little legs. We plan on parking the stroller for most of the day and just using for those long walks back to the resort and evenings when he is worn down. It is nice to have the flexibility to take it anywhere we go and not only have for use in the park.

I always felt that the stroller change was more for the new dimensions, seemed liked to me they are trying to discourage the side by sides in general. Those new doubles are very small incomparison to most doubles
