George Lucas said at Celebration III, (thats for the new star wars movie), someone asked about a new star tours. GL said he was already considering a complete overhaul for the old ride, which has become outdated. He didnt say what part of the saga it would focus on. When I here more I will relay the message.

DH and I were just talking about how WDW needs to revamp some of the rides for us frequent guests. It would be nice to see an updated version of Star Tours.

Yeah...it can almost be guaranteed that it'll be a podrace movie and maybe even new line waiting stuff to look at...it'll be awesome!!! I hear that he said that it was going to done soon...since the mechanics and stuff are already there, my guess is it'll only take a few weeks to 2 months max to finish...

Since the big Star Wars stuff took place here (In Indianapolis) I have a couple of things.

It was widely reported in the local press/TV news that he was considering

1. A new Indy Jones movie - was to read the script last weekend.

2. Lucus also said on WIBC (radio) that he may have a animated Star Wars show for fall of 2007.

3. He also was asked by a fan IF he would ever film parts 7, 8 etc - he said maybe - that he was now thinking he may even allow someone else to film the w/him having the final say.

4. And he also said that a new Star Wars ride was coming - probably 2007 or early 2008 - he said he had other stuff to do over the next year or so.

I just thought I would share what he said In Indy last week.

He also said that a new animated 30 minute show might start fall 2007 as a continuation of the Star Wars story - probably on ABC.

And as he was going out the door he said he had talked w/Spielberg about a doing another ET movie.

The only thing that ever stopped this from happening before was Disney's reluctance to pay for the project, so it follows that Disney's stance would have to change for it to happen in the future. Perhaps it has, or perhaps Lucas is speaking out of turn. Time will tell, I guess.

I think it would be great to have random different experiences. While the pod race would be cool, as the only thing, I think people would pass. I'd love to see the asteroid chase from Empire. Thankfully since Lucas has say, it won't be done on the cheap like a lot of the refurbs have been.

That ride is so jerky. A woman was sitting two seats away from me and at the end of the ride she was frantically searching for her purse that she "secured" in the saftey net. Her purse had slid all the way over to the floor by me!

This would be so cool. I have not heard anything about it on hyperspace though. But I have heard from many sorces that the last three movies will more than likely get made. Well Time to get me Star Wars fix.

The ride is tamer than it originally was. I hope if they redo it they include more flyovers. The shots flying over the Death Star are the best. The parts where you just sit there having tie-fighters fly by feels like you're just watching a movie. And the objects on the screen are never big enough to make you feel like you're really looking out a cockpit window. I have enjoyed Star Tours over the years (first ride - DL in 1988) but I never felt the ride captured the grandeur of the Star Wars universe. The screen needs to be bigger like Tokyo's Stormrider.

Thank goodness. My mom and I were just talking about how badly it needs to be redone--I hope its like Soarin. :cloud9:

Haha!
