New Source for 3-day Hoppers!

I am curious too. One of these would be great for my DH who wants to go to DQ!

I went through all the screens on the Disney link and no where does it ask for info as to which convention you are with, etc. It sure looks like a good deal and would be great for us because we are having a very short trip and will have just 2 park days so getting a hopper would be super.

The top of the page says "SIADE August 2004 Program". Anyone know what "SIADE" means? Thanks!

It seems that there is an event database software called siade - perhaps that is what it is? i.e. Disney may have a database of events it sells special tickets for, and right now it is selling for August events?? So in June I should theoretically be able to buy for my October trip, assuming there is an October event I could pretend I am attending! I wish I could confirm that a 3-day hopper I buy from the Disney convention site could be used anytime before December 30, not just during the event period - it looks that way, but is it really safe to assume??

They might ask for the name of the convention if you get as far as the actual purchasing screen. Anyone know?

I got all the way to the final confirmation screen without it asking for the name of a convention. I entered my credit card info and everything. It went to the page where I had to review to make sure everything was correct. One more click and I would have had the purchase completed with no questions.

I have the same reservations as bajanswife, wondering if the tickets are good any time or just around the days of the event. We are going in June and the screen says August.

Its tempting but still scary!

I took out the end part of that link and kind of poked around a bit. I was able to get to a screen which asked when I would be attending and what group I was a part of. I typed in Gay Days since that is around the time I will be there with my son and it brought me to the ticket screen similar to the link above. I guess if you found a convention around the time you were there and put that in, it would work.

I'd be a little nervous about ordering too...and I'd feel a litle guilty for misrepresenting myself...(as a meeting/convention attender, when I'm really not)...

But for what it's worth, just like the WWOS tickets, you can type in anything in the group name box and it still gets you to the "purchase ticket" page.

I'm in the same bind as a number here. We're only going to be at WDW for 3 nights. If all else fails I'll get a UPH pass and lop off the last day when I arrive at the Dolphin.

Just out of curiosity, I went poking around to find what conventions might be going this fall if anyone has an interest in these areas. Here are a couple:

Real Estate agents:

Fan clubs

I thought this one sounded like a bunch of nudists, or maybe just debauchery, but it's not like that at all. These guys are up to good works: http://www.bocf.org/mission.html

Too bad my genealogy convention could not be in Orlando this year!

That Fanboy convention will work for our dates, even if we get the tickets that are only good for 7 days before and after the convention!!

I went to the Disneymeetings site, purchase tickets section. They asked where I was staying and what group, so I put in the Ditto 17 group from the Fanboy site mentioned earlier. I was taken to the generic ticket choices page where the 2-day, 3-day etc. hoppers are listed. No dates appeared here, and no mention of Ditto 17. The tickets were clearly stated as being valid til December 30, 2004, and expiring 10 days after first use. So I would have to assume that dates don't really matter (that the convention questions were just an attempt to put non-conventioners off) and that it's safe to buy these tickets. What I don't know is if there is any chance that Disney would ask for convention ID at the gate - I think it's pretty slim though.

But what about this statement?

Tickets are not available for purchase at Walt Disney World® Theme Park ticket windows and are valid for use only on the specific dates of the meeting/convention/wedding. Tickets valid 10 days from first use. Date of first use must be on or before December 30, 2004. Verification of meeting/convention/wedding participation is required. Tickets are valid during any of the Theme Parks’ regular operating hours. All prices include applicable Florida state sales tax. Offer is subject to change without notice.

The verification part concerns me:confused:

Just an FYI for all considering purchasing tickets this way. We had purchased one last year for my husband. Actually friends of ours WERE there on a convention and they purchased it thru the convention link. He WAS asked to produce convention ID at the gate:eek: He almost was denied entrance but I did some fast talking and they FINALLY let him in after getting a manger involved. I would never take that chance again. It was really embarassing, and took almost a 1/2 hour to get in. So if you do buy, just be aware that something like this MAY happen. Maybe ours was a fluke but I am not willing to risk it again.

Thanks Holly - I appreciate you input. I think I'll pass on this route, the money saved just isn't worth the hassle. It sure would be nice is Disney would open this up to cruisers also. It would be perfect for our 1/2 day on Friday before the cruise and the returning Saturday. In any case this was an interesting thread, thanks to all.

nowhere on tickets does it state that it is a convention ticket!! it only gives the expiration date, and when the ticket goes through the scanner it says nothing of being a convention ticket or any other kind of ticket (scanners are not setup that way). i think everyone is being a little paranoid about the whole thing. these tickets DO expire etc. etc. therefore you are paying FAIR VALUE, no more, no less!!

I had a VERY old ticket for MGM I got at a convention in 1997 (no joke!!!). I used it last weekend. The gate flagged me, of course it wouldn't scan, but I was led to the ticket window and they issued me a new ticket.

So trepka1440 you have bought one of these tickets and did not have any problems? (sorry if you posted this earlier in the tread, I didn't want to go all the way back to check) Even though the website states good for August blah, blah to August blah, blah (can't remember the dates but it was like a week time span) you think they are good now? We need them for 4/30 and 5/8.

Whew! Glad my aunts 3 day hopper came today. One of those times that staying up late really paid off since I got it the last night!!! I don't think I would dare do the convention ones.

If you said you were with the Gay Days group, wonder what kind of i.d. they'd want you to show them?

:teeth:

:earsgirl: Thanks for the info, but I found ticket prices even cheaper with attractionticketcenter.com. Have you ever heard of them? I am not who I should get my tickets from. Thanks!

hegfam, my point EXACTLY!! there are SO MANY conventions at disney at any given time it would be almost impossible for them to monitor all the offsite conventions as well as those that are onsite.
